MSF France Homa Bay project is looking to fill the position of a Project Pharmacy Manager to be based in Homa Bay. The successful candidate will supervise a Pharmacy Technician and a storekeeper and report to the Medical Team Leader.

Objective of the Position:

Defining, coordinating and monitoring all pharmacy related activities in the project area including management of staff, according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures and the mission’s pharmacist and Medical Coordinator’s guidelines, in order to ensure the proper management and supply of drugs and medical devices.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Participating actively in the definition and update of the annual planning and budgets of the pharmacy activities in the project

• Participating actively in the biweekly antibiotic ward rounds together with the medical team. Document findings and share with the Medical Team Leader & mission pharmacy manager

• Supervising the functioning and organization of the project central pharmacy and other peripheral units.

• Defining storage, stock management and supply processes, as well as hygiene and security procedures, tools, and protocols (controlling pests and rodents) in order to ensure good storage conditions (temperatures, humidity and light exposure) and the accurate handling of the products and equipment.

• Supporting chronic diseases program, actively following up and analyzing prescriptions, identifying potential drug-drug interactions and reporting on pharmacovigilance.

• Working closely with MoH pharmacist and pharmacy teams in commodity follow up, order forecasting and report to Medical Team Leader & mission pharmacy manager on potential stock challenges.

• Conducting continuous medical education (CME) to the project medical staff to ensure pharmacy procedures are understood and adhered to.

• Evaluating adherence to clinical guidelines, together with Medical Team Leader and medical teams

• Ensuring all monthly reports are submitted on time and data well analyzed.

• Ensuring that the Unifield database and stock cards are updated.

Qualification & Requirements

Education

Mandatory: Diploma/Degree in Pharmacy

Knowledge & Experience

Minimum 2 years of demonstrated work experience in Pharmacy Management. Proficient in MS Office use (Excel, Word, Internet). Experience with MSF or other NGOs desirable.

Languages

Fluency in English and Kiswahili is a must.
