Position: Project Manager – Women’s Right to Property (WRP)

Location: Islamabad, Pakistan

Duration: 12 month contract

Reports to: Country Director

Position Summary:

Relief International (RI) is currently recruiting a Project Manager for an anticipated bid. The position will provide leadership to the WRP project. Define the scope of projects in collaboration with senior management and later to ensure that projects meet established time, cost, technical and quality objectives. The Project Manager owns projects beginning in the pre-contract process and will manage them through complete closeout. The position is contingent upon award of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of Relief International Country Director the Project Manager will be mainly responsible for following tasks:

  • Provide leadership to the project team and ensure the effective implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the project
  • Provide sector-specific expertise and best practices on human/women’s rights issues, and oversee technical assistance.
  • Establish network with donors, civil society, and government agencies to identify potential in work
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to facilitate project implementation
  • Provide timely support to project staff ensure maximum productivity, improved efficiencies and team-building
  • Responsible for donor reporting, and other reports as and when required.
  • Supervise budget preparation and ensure that spending is on target and responsibly managed;
  • Conduct field visits regularly and establish effective relationships and coordination with the project stakeholders and beneficiaries
  • Communicate and liaise closely with project partners for planning, designing, and achieving the activities as set out in the work plan.
  • On-going coordination and information exchange with Government Stakeholders and RI Regional and Global office of Finance, Grants and Compliance.
  • Provide advice and information to Country Director on project progress as relevant.
  • Supervise project team and manage their performance and professional development.

Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Law/Human Rights or relevant degree in social sciences, preferably with specialization in gender and conflicts.
  • Demonstrated experience within human rights, justice and gender.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management, gender empowerment, with specific expertise in human rights, justice, with a demonstrated ability to promote change;
  • Technical expertise and experience in project design and implementation from a rights based and gender perspective is required.
  • Relevant experience from a conflict setting preferred, and experience with Islamic law an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional under stress, and to strengthen capacity of staff and counterparts in multi-cultural settings.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
