IWMI’s Water Data Science and Digital Innovation Strategic Program invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow who brings transdisciplinary skills and expertise in gender equality, social inclusivity and digital innovations relating to IWMI’s research for development portfolio across Africa, Asia and potentially Latin America. The candidate will work under the guidance of senior researchers and be part of an exciting cross-CGIAR initiative on Digital Innovations.

Digital innovations are rapidly transforming food, land and water systems in unprecedented ways in Asia, Africa and Latin America. These changes have the potential and can offer opportunities to transform long-standing inequalities – particularly for women and youth. If digital innovations are to trigger transformative change, then these innovations need to be designed to map and tackle digital divides, particularly where increased by ill-informed needs, design, utilization and unequitable access to innovations in developing regions of the world. This post is part of a new stream of work that aims to provide robust evidence of the digital divide and potential solutions across food, land and water systems and value chains; to support and strengthen capacity to help governments, private sector and grassroots actors to maximize opportunities provided by water data science and digital innovations. A key focus is on more inclusive development, access to and use of digital innovations, with a particular focus on marginalized women and youth. The work will be collaborative across different Strategic Programs and Research Groups within IWMI, the CGIAR and wider external partnerships.
