Position Title: One Health Intern

Reports to: Chair, Center for One Health

Group/Department: University of Global Health Equity (UGHE)

Location: Kigali, Rwanda

Role Overview

The Center for One Health at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) has a growing research and training program including in One Health and medicine. The primary role of the One Health Intern will be to provide support to a research project on an “Evaluation of One Health integration in MBBS curricula at UGHE. The ideal candidate for this position is highly self-motivated and passionate about research and One Health with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills. The One Health Intern will have experience in research, can work independently as well as part of a team, and can communicate effectively. They will have experience and interest in supporting research including data collection and analysis, transcription and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection and management, and conduct qualitative and/or quantitative analyses
  • Provide translation and transcription support for the OH/MBBS research project
  • Coordinate logistics including cash advances
  • Support in conducting literature searches and reviews and support with ethics review submissions
  • Support in writing project deliverables, such as protocols, reports, and publications
  • Perform additional duties as required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Excellent writing and editing skills
    • Fluency in English required; Kinyarwanda an advantage
    • 2-3 years demonstrated research experience
    • Proven skills to organize and execute logistics
    • Experience working with adult learners and faculty
    • Experience working in Rwanda or in other relevant contexts
    • Ability to manage, organize, develop plans and generate data to make decisions
    • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to effectively collaborate with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries
    • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills, good judgment, and creative problem-solving
    • Proficient computer skills with fluency in Microsoft Office Suite programs including Excel
    • Skilled in statistical analysis software including SPSS
