Under the overall guidance of WHO Representative to Myanmar, the Nutritionist
childhood cancer initiatives will work under the direct supervision of the National Professional Officer (NCDs and Mental Health) and in close consultation with Technical officer, diet & nutrition in WHO Myanmar. In close collaboration with National Childhood Cancer Control Program Director, the Nutritionist will work closely with the childhood cancer control project manager, project officer, physicians and nurses at Hemato-oncology Unit of Yangon Children Hospital. The candidate will provide support to Ministry of Health & Sports for national childhood cancer control programme and support the implementation of relevant collaborative deliverables of the WHO-MoHS collaborative country programme, National Health Plans 2017-2021 & 2022-2026, WHO Myanmar Country Cooperative Strategy 2019-2025 and Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan 2018-2030. This includes monitoring and reporting support for relevant indicators and targets embodied in the aforementioned plans. Overall, focus is on successful implementation of Childhood Cancer Initiatives in the context of Comprehensive Paediatric Cancer Control Plan for Myanmar 2017-2021, its successor document and WHO country cooperation strategy for Myanmar and national health plans of Ministry of Health & Sports.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Work Relations and Partnerships
The Nutritionist provides support to Program Manager and relevant stakeholders, at Yangon Children Hospital/300-bedded Mandalay Children Hospital to ensure effective Childhood Cancer management between main centre and its network sites. The candidate requires to work at full-time in public week days. The candidate is expected to contribute his/her services in case of emergency situations at Yangon Children Hospital.
Impact of functions
The function plays a key role in project operation and documentation to ensure effective childhood cancer management across main centres and their network sites by bring the services closer to the patient and hence to reduce abandonment and improve treatment completion and patient survival rate.
Qualification
Educational background
Essential: M.B.; B.S or medical related background
Desirable: Masters' degree in Nutrition and Dietetics is preferred
Professional experience and knowledge
Essential: Good track records of at least two years working experiences at UN, International/Local NGOs/ public/private setting. Skill full in computer operation and excel function. Must be able to work outside regular office hours, under pressure and travel in the country.
Desirable: Having working experiences in government hospital or MOHS department and/or coordination experiences at UN, International/Local NGOs will be an asset
Language Skills
Required: Expert in Myanmar language (spoken and written)
Desired: Intermediate level of English language (spoken and written)
