Organizational Setting

The Information Technology Division (CSI) is responsible for all IT activities within the Organization. CSI performs on

behalf of the Organization the following critical roles: defining FAO IT policies and providing strategic advice on IT

architecture and standards, governance, policy and operational matters while monitoring organizational compliance;

defining the mechanisms for managing FAO's information and data; protecting FAO's information assets and ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability; ensuring provision of IT services that are core for the Organization's global operations and supporting the information and business processes; coordinating organization-wide IT activities in order to reduce duplication and fragmentation and to increase integration of information data, systems and platforms, mobilizing IT resources from across the Organization.

Reporting Lines

Under the direct supervision the IT Officer, the consultant will be responsible for daily provision of cloud systems administration functions and operations.

Technical Focus

The candidate to this position will be responsible for the correct operation of the cloud-based Microsoft infrastructure of the organization and other cloud-based services.

Tasks and responsibilities

All work will be performed in compliance with the appropriate organizational standards and procedures, ensuring all IS/ICT products conform to IT divisional technical, security and quality standards. Specifically, the consultant will:

• Propose solutions for cloud governance strategies aiming at enabling both efficient and effective cloud operations;
• Propose MS cloud infrastructure architectures to meet development and project activity requirements, advising on continuous improvement processes required to maintain the MS based stacks up-to-date and secure;
• Manage the relevant Microsoft Cloud technologies and services, proposing solutions for smooth operations and development of functionality;
• Install, configure, or enable MS systems and services in support of development and project activities using in house and/or cloud infrastructure resources as needed;
• Perform ongoing performance tuning and perform hardware upgrades and resource optimization as required;
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions and contribute to maintaining the security posture of systems in accordance with IT Security recommendations.
• Operate the FAO MS Infrastructure both on scheduled and emergency interventions, providing on-site or on-call/remote assistance as needed and required by emergencies, and in any cases as agreed with service manager.
• Ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the corporate systems and reaction times in line with criticality of event.
• Perform any other duties as requested.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant technical Microsoft certifications
• 5 years of relevant experience in MS systems administration field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in cloud systems administration, preferably MS Azure
• High School Diploma or relevant education and certifications (for PSA)
• University degree in Computer Science or closely related field (for Consultants)
• Working knowledge (level C) of English and limited knowledge (level B) of another FAO official language (For Consultants).
• For PSA, working knowledge (level C) of English.

Technical/Functional Skills

- Work experience in MS systems administration field

- Enterprise SAN administration and management

- Backup management systems

- Familiarity with Perl, PowerShell and/or other and shell scripting languages

- Work experience in Cloud and Hybrid Cloud Operations

- Work experience and knowledge of Deployment Pipeline, Software Development Lifecycle and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

- Able to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships
