RTI’s work is helping foster stronger food systems, reduce malnutrition in all its forms, build resilience and engage the next generation of food security leaders. RTI is currently partnering on nearly 30 projects in East Africa, including activities focused on private sector-driven agricultural growth in Rwanda and market systems development in Kenya.

Project Description

The purpose of the recently awarded USAID Feed the Future Senegal Value Chain Activity is to provide technical assistance to significantly scale-up, both in terms of potential beneficiaries and geographical coverage, access to value chain services to expand job opportunities and enterprise development in the Senegalese agricultural sector. The anticipated program will be based in Dakar, Senegal and the intervention zones are Delta and middle valley of the Senegal River, South Saloum, and Casamance.

Position Description

RTI International is seeking an IT Specialist for the USAID Feed the Future Senegal Value Chain Activity. The IT Specialist will manage and support IT systems for staff located in its Senegal Office as well as staff located throughout the field offices. This position will be in Dakar, Senegal and report to the Finance, Operations and Local Capacity Building Manager.

Description du projet

L’objectif du nouveau projet, Feed the Future Sénégal Services aux Chaines de Valeur de l’USAID, est de fournir une assistance technique pour augmenter considérablement, à la fois en termes de bénéficiaires potentiels et de couverture géographique, l’accès aux services au sein des chaînes de valeur pour accroitre les opportunités d’emploi et le développement des entreprises Sénégalaises dans le secteur agricole. Le projet sera basé à Dakar et les zones d’intervention sont le Delta et la moyenne vallée du fleuve Sénégal, le Sud Saloum et la Casamance.

Description du poste

RTI International est à la recherche d’un Spécialiste informatique pour l’activité Feed the Future Sénégal Services aux Chaines de Valeur de l’USAID. Le Spécialiste informatique gérera et soutiendra les systèmes informatiques du personnel situé dans le bureau de Dakar, ainsi que du personnel situé dans tous les bureaux extérieurs. Ce poste sera basé à Dakar, Sénégal et sous la supervision du Responsable des finances et operations, et développement des capacités locales.

Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Manages the use and maintenance of technology required for day-to-day operational support of the project staff and implementation, including first level of support Windows PCs, MacOS, and Windows Servers and maintain network infrastructure including the ISP, Routers, Ethernet switches, and PBX phones, as well as maintain spare parts and hardware repairs and restoration.
  • Sets up, maintains, and supports the IT infrastructure and equipment for project offices in all locations including for additional project offices as they are established.
  • Ensure Windows and other software is maintained and that patches are promptly applied.
  • Ensure anti-virus software is kept current.
  • Ensures information is backed up and maintained in accordance with RTI policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with the GTS Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) department in ensuring that all software/ systems implemented are as per GTS policies.
  • Undertake projects that reduce the complexity of work processes and deploying systems and services that can be scaled without altering the basic design or architecture of the system, such as setting up an efficient Video Conferencing system in Project Offices to facilitate online meeting and collaboration between staff.
  • Provide timely and cost-effective procurement of IT resources, working closely with colleagues in Administration and Finance to source appropriate IT items, solutions, and equipment, using relevant frameworks and ensure value for money.
  • Negotiate robustly with suppliers to deliver contracts and services that are sustainable into the future by providing technical specifications for IT items and equipment.
  • Provide effective capacity building initiatives to staff, including orientation for new staff, trainings for users on new initiatives within ITS, as well as creating tutorials for IT services and solutions.
  • Work with regional ITS team to solve or escalate IT issues.
  • Provide support on the Financial Management System (QuickBooks) to the project finance team.
  • Install/configure Multifunction Printers, Highspeed scanners, and other equipment as needed.
  • Work with Home office/regional office team to configure and maintain document libraries within SharePoint as per the needs of the Technical Leads.
  • Provide technical support to meetings that include video conferencing, managing the power backup, and ensuring that the electricals devices are protected.
  • Maintain IT inventory for all IT equipment and/or software in accordance with RTI policy and procedures.
