About the Program:

P4G - Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 - contributes to green and inclusive growth in low- and middle-income countries by helping early-stage climate businesses become investment ready and supporting national climate platform connections in food, water, and energy systems. Hosted by World Resources Institute and funded by Denmark, the Netherlands, and the Republic of Korea, P4G partner countries include Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa and Vietnam. P4G provides grants and technical assistance to early-stage climate businesses within a broader partnership to improve their investor readiness. All partnerships are aligned to national priorities as defined in the NDCs and coordinated by each of P4G’s nine government led P4G National Platforms. The partnerships and the National Platforms engage together on sector specific policy and regulatory changes to enable business growth. P4G captures and mobilizes knowledge around these public-private pathways to increase the flow of global climate finance to local climate businesses.

Job Highlight:

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Africa, you will identify, assess, and advise on investments in partnerships projects working across five key areas: food and agriculture, water, energy, cities and circular economy. You will lead multi-disciplinary discussions with professionals who have expertise in the regions or sectors. You will contribute to building and expanding strategic relationship with potential investors. You will be supported by the P4G Hub team.

What will you do:

Investment Readiness Support (70%):

  • Assess partnership applicants during the selection process to identify the strength of the business model and plan, financial projections and if the business has commercial viability
  • Support the business become investment ready as part of P4G’s technical assistance to its funded partnerships
  • Coordinate and implement investors sessions for partnerships that are ready with investment memoranda and manage investor relationships.
  • Conduct due-diligence of investment memoranda and pitch-deck prepared by the partnership financial advisor(s)
  • Prepare summaries of partnerships ready or nearly ready for securing investment for presentation to financial institutions and other investors
  • Conduct research on the investment framework for target investors/financial institutions and innovative financial structures, including blended finance structure

    Project Management Support (30%):

    • Support the team on partnership site visits and events and workshops as required
    • Assume project management responsibility for select partnerships
    • Share learning and best practices with the team and relevant stakeholders

      What will you need:

      • Education: You have a completed a Master’s degree in the Investment/Finance/Business Related fields
      • Experience: You have a minimum 6 years of work experience in investments.
      • Experienced with financial modelling for venture capital or structured financing
      • Familiarity with the complexities of operating business and delivering solutions in emerging economies and least developed countries
      • Strong financial, credit and risk assessment skills; demonstrated understanding about a variety of financial instruments (debt and equity, blended investments)
      • Skilled at working in a multi-stakeholder environment and bridging diverging views among stakeholders
      • Superb interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collegially with others and with the highest standards of integrity
      • Languages: Fluency in English
      • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization
