Expected duration2-6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The Secretary-General has delegated this responsibility to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG). The RSG heads the Office of Investment Management (OIM), which manages approximately $80+ billion multi-asset class, global investment portfolio, about 80% of which is actively managed in-house. Asset classes under management comprise global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber and commodities. This internship position is located in the Performance Unit of the Risk and Compliance section within the Office of Investment Management of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund. The performance team’s role is to independently verify and eventually challenge the performance measurement, methodology and reporting of the OIM’s Custodian and Master Record Keeper (MRK). An important role as well is to maintain the Fund’s compliance with the GIPS standards (ethical and best market practice in terms of performance computation, disclosure, and communication). The incumbent reports to the Risk Officer. The incumbent can work full time or part time, in-person at OIM’s office in New York or remotely, and can be adjusted based on the request of the successful candidate. With appropriate guidance, the intern will be responsible for the following tasks: • Conduct comprehensive research on diverse metrics for the redesign of Private Market performance reports. • Engage in training sessions with industry leading information providers to enhance professional skill sets significantly. • Actively participate in shaping the new report’s design and develop visually appealing report templates to enhance clarity and u usefulness for stakeholders. • Implement quality assurance protocols and tools to validate the accuracy and reliability of input data utilized in reports. • Collaborate with the team by assisting in tasks such as data retrieval and running internal models. • This project will provide the intern with the opportunity to learn about Private Markets through training sessions and direct interaction with industry experts. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants who have graduated as defined in (a) or (b) above, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D.
