Terms of ReferencePurpose and scope
The Interpreter Assistant normally report to a higher level local or international staff. The incumbent supports the operation with translation and interpretation related activities.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Protection Officer and the Resettlement Expert, Level 2, the Interpreters will work closely with the Protection unit mostly with Resettlement in Gambella Sub Office.

Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited too

-Interpreters will be responsible for interpreting and/or translating various documents including but not limited to marriage/divorce certificates, birth notifications and certificates.
-Interpreters will serve as interpreters during resettlement country interviews. Additionally, they interpret oral conversations, discussions, and interviews for visiting missions.
-Interprets oral conversations, discussions and interviews especially when attending meetings with high ranking officials, diplomats and others.
-Travels with international staff on their missions to the field for interpretation and other assistance, as needed.
-Arranges meetings, both internal and external, some involving high-ranking officials and takes minutes/notes.
-Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities.
-Responds to queries relating to the area of responsibility.
- Assist in field related activities such as crowd control, information campaigns and during general food distributions.
-Perform other related duties as required.

Education
High School Diploma/Secondary Education Certificate completion

Work experience
At least one-year work experience working in social sciences or having worked as an interpreter or translator and/or community volunteer or community outreach worker.

Key competencies
Fluency in spoken Nuer Language

Fluency English language both spoken and written

An an added advantage in spoken Anuak Language or Arabic Language is desired but not mandatory
