Work LocationNairobi Expected duration9 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the Director-General of UNON is the representative of the Secretary-General in Kenya. UNON supports programme implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Resident Coordination System (RCS) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, security, conference and information services (www.unon.org). UNON has embarked in the review of its recruitment process and tool. The Information Communication Technology Officer will support in the developing, reviewing, and implementing a robust monitoring, evaluation & learning framework, and tools to facilitate measurement of progress; enhance compliance of CBO project with UN standards, policy frameworks and best practices and achieve efficiency. The consultant will report to the Chief Talent Acquisition Unit (TAU). The position is based in Nairobi and will integrate into an ongoing and high pace project. Key Responsibilities: 1. Develop ICTs strategies, plans and policies for the project 2. Specify and provide technology to meet the project needs 3. Provide user training of ICT resources and ensuring the security of ICT systems. 4. Responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation, research, and learning framework of the Project. 5. Develop a systematic monitoring framework to improve the qualitative and quantitative evidence gathered by the Project 6. Provide technical assistance particularly in relation to monitoring, reporting and governance issues. 7. Design and establish internal databases and files for CBO 8. Provide technical advice to CBO clients when necessary. 9. Performs 2nd level desktop troubleshooting in conjunction with the Help Desk. 10. Oversee software distribution updates, scripting, testing and support. 11. Coordinate with other organizational units on issues that affect desktop administration and configuration. 12. Plan, schedule, and co-ordinates the work of the project team 13. Provide full range of technical assistance in the area of ICT administration and support. 14. Acts as problem escalation point for staff at lower levels 15. Generates workload and performance reports on a regular basis. 16. Act as the client contact point for ICT services 17. Ensure that quality assurance procedures are implemented. 18. Ensures that all requests are logged and tracked with minimum delay 19. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications/special skillsA 1st Level Degree in Information Science or equivalent is required. A minimum of 4 years of experience in Information science or related field is required. Familiarity with UN recruitment processes is desirable but not a must. Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft software is required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work in a multicultural and diverse environment is required. Proficiency in Information Technology tools is required. LanguagesFluency in English (both written and spoken) is required. Additional InformationNot available.
