Role Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Healthcare Program Manager, the Head Nurse will work closely with the Healthcare Program in supporting operations, logistics, and programmatic needs. The Head Nurse is a part of a team who is responsible for ensuring that the Infirmary St. Etienne (ISE) provides effective, efficient, and quality healthcare to our patients.. The Head Nurse is responsible for, but not limited to, supervision and scheduling of all nurses, providing patient care, and providing reporting. The range of responsibilities of the Head Nurse requires a professional leader who is a flexible and patient person with a strong capacity for problem solving, organization, and task orientation.

This is a National position based full-time in Les Cayes, Haiti.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Provide supervision to all ISE nurses
  • Assign and communicate nurse work stations weekly and ensure nursing staff adhere to hours of operations
  • Share professional development plans for all nurses each fiscal year by identifying opportunities and sharing with the Director of Culture and Leadership (DCL)
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training of new nurses along with Medical Leadership Team and DCL
  • Share and enforce Hope for Haiti policies and procedures
  • Attend monthly Haiti Leadership meetings
  • Provide care to patients at the Infirmary St. Etienne
  • Ensure that nursing care meets regulatory standards by MSPP and ensure ISE nurses are providing the best care
  • Attend local and regional MSPP events, trainings, meetings, and other Healthcare Events on behalf of HFH
  • Evaluate nursing staff performance by coordinating all staff meetings and individual check-ins as needed, as well as completing annual performance reviews
  • Manage budget lines related to programmatic activities and submit monthly Purchase Order (PO) requests
  • Assist medical team in tracking inventory of medications and medical supplies in our EMR system, and assist in procurement process as detailed in Hope for Haiti’s Procurement Policy
  • Think strategically about current and new patient care programs and work with leadership team to makes suggestions on how to improve our programs and processes
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports on the KPI Tracker.
  • Provide donor specific content as needed for donor reporting and provide content for grant proposals.
  • Provide written and spoken translation for reports, mailings and trips as needed
  • Assist with volunteer medical teams, donors, and on-site visits at Infirmary St. Etienne in coordination with the Operation Department.
  • Other tasks as assigned

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management, MSPP Medical License required
  • Advanced skills in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Tools and Internet
  • Experience in Healthcare Management
  • Good written and reporting skills
  • Ability to write and speak in English and Haitian Creole or French required
  • Passion and enthusiasm for non-profit work
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and joyful demeanor
  • Ability to work and establish good relationships with co-workers, partners, and non-partners
  • Ability to traverse distances of over 10 kilometers at varying elevations and to move 30 pounds over shoulders.
