We are looking to recruit a coordinator with a refugee background for our project in Athens. If you are a recently settled refugee or beneficiary of international protection, please apply and share with individuals you think might be interested. For the purpose of team balance, female candidates have a strong advantage

Action for Education is an independent, grassroots organization founded in the UK and Greece in 2018. We develop and support projects that aim to remove the barriers to education for displaced communities. Since May 2021 we are running the Nest in Athens; a child friendly community space to support refugee communities and families, in partnership with PILAglobal and Carry the Future. The aim of this project is to provide parenting support in a space that is designed with appropriate materials for young children to learn, play and engage with their parents.

Children are able to freely explore a range of carefully selected materials, enabling them to experiment, develop important preschool skills, and learn through self-guided play and interaction with other children. Additionally, we aim to facilitate parental involvement, providing the opportunity for quality time together and supporting parents’ understanding of their child’s development and needs. We also provide a relaxation area for parents, as well as a range of parent support groups.
