Job description

Promoting gender equality is an important goal of the German development cooperation, and gender mainstreaming is a standard in GIZ's work, including in Cameroon. The GIZ Regional Office's measure \"Promoting portfolio-wide feminist development cooperation in Cameroon through exchange and networking formats\" is intended to promote the strategic gender objectives and facilitate effective gender mainstreaming by GIZ projects and their partner organisations. It has three main objectives: 1) Advice and support in the development and implementation of a portfolio-wide gender analysis and gender strategy in cooperation with the embassy, the Reconstruction Loan Corporation and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources in Cameroon; 2) Supporting the networking of different actors promoting gender equality through exchange formats to increase the effectiveness of their women's empowerment work; 3) Strengthening the gender-transformative work of GIZ projects and, if possible, for German development cooperation and its partner organisations by providing advice in the field of gender mainstreaming in the sense of a feminist development policy.

Your tasks

Advising partner organisations (e.g. Action Locale pour un Développement Participatif et Autogéré) on gender mainstreaming and organisational development Cooperation with partner organisations to organise exchange formats with Cameroonian civil society on gender issues and women empowerment Monitoring and supporting the implementation of GIZ's Gender Strategy and GIZ Cameroon's portfolio-wide Gender Strategy Advising the regional Management team on the topic of equality and gender in general Advising GIZ on gender mainstreaming projects and on GIZ's tools and processes and the feminist development policy of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Training and awareness-raising on gender issues among GIZ staff Planning and monitoring of internal gender equality measures Co-leader of the network of gender contact persons in Cameroon Reporting Preparation of communication products

Your profile

Master's degree in a social or political science subject (Gender Studies, Development Studies, Sociology, Ethnology) or other relevant fields of study Several years of work experience in the field of gender equality and gender mainstreaming First work experience in development cooperation First work experience in organizational development, especially in the design of participatory processes and networking formats Knowledge of the country is an advantage Competence in dealing with conflicts, negotiation skills Excellent ability to work in a team, intercultural competence High degree of self-organization and structured way of working Business fluent in English, fluent skills in French, German skills are an advantage
