Job Summary:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified, motivated and detailed-oriented candidate to serve as Coordinator, Seed Systems in its Innovation Policy and Scaling – HP Unit (IPS-HP). This is a one-year, renewable appointment based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The Coordinator, Seed Systems will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining nurseries and trials records, monitoring partner locations, digitalizing seed production and field trials data, and providing essential support to ongoing research and scaling activities and their progress reports. This position is based in Hyderabad, India and interested applicants must have work authorization to work in India.

Essential Duties:

Specific Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and execution of seed production, storage, and distributions
  • Support and maintain nurseries and trials records
  • Monitor partner locations' trials, seed production, and nurseries, including data collection
  • Assists with digitalization of seed production and field trials data and manage the information
  • Coordinate seed intend, agreements, procurement, and process operations
  • Organize and execute planned sampling, estimation, and lab/field data analyses
  • Manage cold storage materials and records for focus crops and projects
  • Assist in drafting lab reports, lab organizations, protocols, R&D documentations and annual reports
  • Assist in seed production protocols/manual for internal and external partners and support seed mobility various HP projects.
  • Support various ongoing research and seed scaling activities within the unit
  • Build strong strategic multilevel relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure increased outreach of nutrient-enriched seeds in the market
  • Act as champion in creating awareness for the production and consumption of nutrient-enriched crops in India
  • Develop and maintain crop database

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences or related field plus five years of relevant professional work experience or Master’s degree plus three years of experience.
    • Working experience in field crops, nutrition testing techniques, and operations
    • Working knowledge of seed production, storage, and logistics arrangements with partners
    • Familiarity with data recording, management methods and ability to use spreadsheets (e.g., Excel, MS Access) and data analysis skills

      Preferred

      • Proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken)
      • Acumen for breeding-pedigree data management and field data analysis is desirable
      • Strong team player with adaptability to a multicultural team
      • Knowledge of grain micronutrients and estimation methods is highly desirable
      • Willingness to travel to partner locations and project sites
      • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including excellent communication, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills; the ability to effectively liaise with colleagues, partners, and donors in a diverse multi-cultural and fast-paced team environment
      • Essential personal qualities of integrity, responsiveness, and decisiveness

        Physical Demand & Work environment:

        • Employee will sit in an upright position for a long period of time.
        • Employee will lift between 0-10 pounds.
        • Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading.
