Job Title: Resource Mobilization Consultant

Purpose of consultancy:
The onsultancy is located within the Resource Mobilization Branch (RMB) / Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS). RMB is leading corporate resource mobilization efforts, thereby increasing UNFPA’s capacity to implement its mandate. It is responsible for maintaining, nurturing and developing traditional and emerging donor relations to secure sufficient funding for the implementation of UNFPA’s Strategic Plan. It follows and analyzes national and international trends and discussions on various means to mobilize resources and the development of new funding sources and mechanisms.

The Branch works closely with Regional Offices and Country Offices to guide local and regional resource mobilization efforts. It obtains and shares intelligence about donor interests and priorities in order to broaden the donor base and stimulate creative fund-raising activities.

Within the broad scope of work as outlined above, the consultant is expected to deliver relevant activities on a timely basis, reliably and accurately throughout the consultancy period. Specific deadlines, reports/deliverables will be on need basis and communicated accordingly.

Deliverables:

Resource Mobilization
● Support the delivery of various innovative financing and financing for development outputs
● Increase awareness and visibility of UNFPA’s collaborations with donors, International Financing Institutions (IFIs) and vertical funds
● Research and map existing collaborations with specific partners and initiatives, gather and disseminate success stories
● Analyze content and prepare high level summary of various reports, articles and other publications of relevance to UNFPA resource mobilization and partnership management
● Support high-level and expert level meetings

Field Office capacity building and support
● Draft learning materials on resource mobilization, financing for development, and other partnerships opportunities
● Coordinate planning, development and organization of trainings, webinars and e-learning courses to strengthen field office capacity in resource mobilization, partnership management, and resource management
● Support field offices in the implementation of UNFPA’s Resource Mobilization Strategy and co-financing policy
Donor Intelligence and Reporting
● Design visuals and graphics on revenue trends to support senior management in their engagement with partners
● Conduct analysis of ODA trends and work on other special projects linked to UNFPA’s Strategic Plan and the three transformative results
● Support review and quality assurance of Country Programme Documents (CPDs) Integrated Resource Mobilization and Partnership Plans

Communications
● Focal point for multilateral visibility and recognition, including visibility pages and public web pages
● Draft social media content for donors and other recognition activities
● Serve as the liaison with design team for all relevant RMB publications

Operational
● Carry out any other duties as may be required by the Branch Chief
The consultant will report to the Chief of the Resource Mobilization Branch, DCS..
Expected Travel: Travelling may be required depending on relevant tasks of the portfolio and will be decided with the consultant on a regular basis.

Required Expertise and Qualifications:

Education:
● Advanced University Degree or equivalent.

Knowledge and Experience:
● 3 years previous experience producing written content, preparing presentations and other communication and training materials, performing research, and / or performing other resource mobilization / partnership management activities
● Knowledge of UNFPA mandate
● Previous experience in the UN an advantage
● Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
● Excellent writing and communication skills.
● Computer literacy - Google and Microsoft Office (Word. Excel, Powerpoint)
● Experience using graphic design software, such as Adobe Photoshop an advantage

Languages:
● English and knowledge of another UN language is an asset
