In light of the above, under the supervision of the Local Development Programme Manager/GG Deputy Sector Leader, the Communications Analyst will support the implementation, visibility and communication activities,  ensuring effective and successful communication and promotion of programme activities. The Communications  Analyst will also ensure the execution of coherent communication in full cooperation and coordination with UNDP’s Communications Unit.   Duties and Responsibilities   Support in designing and implementation of the communications strategies and plans for the Local  Development Programme

Conducts communications needs assessments for the Local Development Programme Projects; In coordination with Project Managers, develops communications strategies and plans for the Local Development Programme Projects with clearly defined goals, as well as communication and advocacy  instruments; Proactively develops ideas, proposes actions and provides advice for improved and coherent promotion of Local Development Programme Projects results using the existing and new communication tools and  channels, adequate for targeted audience; Ensures alignment of Projects communication strategies, plans and activities with UNDP CO communication  strategies, plans and guidelines, in close cooperation with Communication Unit; Ensures effective implementation of Local Development Programme Projects communication strategies and plans; Ensures effective and timely information exchange between the Local Development Programme Projects  and Communications Unit on all aspects related to communication plans and activities; Provides inputs related to Local Development Programme communication plans, actions and results to the Head of Communication Unit.

Management of public relations activities for the Local Development Programme Projects

Manages public relations (PR) events and campaigns related to the Local Development Programme Projects; Ensures all Local Development Programme Project products are produced in line with UNDP CO standards  and guidelines; Aligns all Local Development Programme Projects PR activities with the UNDP CO Communication Unit  public relation activities; Produces (writes) various types of promotional materials, including but not limited to media advisories, press releases, op-eds, briefing materials, talking points (for senior UNDP staff), blogposts, web articles, posts for social networks, etc. Coordinates production of all communication materials related to the Local Development Programme in  general and Projects (including but not limited to production of videos, photo essays and design tasks, as  per project activities need); Acts as a Local Development Programme projects’ spokesperson, when required; Provides timely and effective responds to media inquiries, in coordination with the Head of the Communications Unit; Moderates Local Development Programme project’s events/conferences when/if required; Provides periodical and ad hoc reports on Programme’s communication plans, activities and results to Head  of the Communications Unit; Provides input and supports communications actions and activities of high importance to the UNDP CO,  when required.

Administrate relevant programme website subpages and social media

Administrates Local Development Programme Projects section within UNDP CO webpage and produces  content for UNDP webpage and social networks; Develops communications content tailored for online channels; Monitors media and informs designated staff on issues relevant to the programme; Develop and support development and implementation of plans for online communications; Contributes to overall UNDP online presence through regular coordination and production of tailored content;
