We are a federation of 188 national human rights associations active in 116 countries. For us, transforming societies is first and foremost the responsibility of local players. Our activities aim to strengthen their capacity for action and their influence.

The International Secretariat, which carries out the FIDH's missions on a daily basis, is made up of an international team of 70 employees based in France and in several offices abroad (Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Thailand, Colombia, Africa), as well as consultants working on various programmes from time to time. It is structured into an Operations and Programmes Department and an Advocacy Department, as well as Support Departments (Communications, Finance, Fundraising, Human Resources, etc.).

The Operations and Programmes Department is responsible for implementing the FIDH's strategy. It implements thematic programmes that involve numerous activities around the world: international investigation and advocacy missions, judicial observations, organisation of events (seminars, webinars, conferences, etc.) and training courses.

Each year, FIDH publishes between 10 and 20 detailed research reports on human rights violations in different parts of the world. These publications are researched and written by teams from the FIDH International Secretariat and member organisations in 112 countries. With these reports, FIDH documents human rights violations, produces legal analyses, establishes responsibilities and provides recommendations. These documents are essential for FIDH to build its strategies for change and to contribute to a better understanding of human rights.

We are recruiting :

B/ Reviewing and editing :

  • Carry out in-depth editorial revisions to ensure clarity, consistency and accuracy of content.
  • Proofreading.
  • Coordinate work with FIDH's ad hoc pool of translators and editors.

C/ Training and development:

  • To train members of the department in the observance and implementation of editorial standards and good practice.
  • To encourage a culture of continuous learning within the department.

D/ Strategic monitoring :

  • Monitor editorial trends, developments in the field of human rights and good communications practice.
  • Suggest improvements to enhance the impact and accessibility of reports.
  • Keeping policy documents up to date.

  • University degree in human rights, international law, journalism or a related field.

  • Excellent writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of editorial standards and writing conventions.
  • Experience of writing and developing guidelines as part of a participatory process.
