Result of ServiceThe CCAC National Project Coordinator for Chad will be responsible for providing support to the CCAC Focal Point at the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development to support Chad’s SLCP agenda and to ensure that the CCAC supported projects are completed within timeline and in line with Chad’s needs and priorities. All deliverables are to be validated by the CCAC Focal Point at the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development. Work LocationChad Expected duration12 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society. The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone. More information on the CCAC is available at: www.ccacoalition.org Chad joined the Climate and Clean Air Coalition in 2015 to scale up its domestic efforts to reduce short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) and follow the scientific progress that has brought these pollutants – especially black carbon - into the climate change narrative. Represented by the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, Chad is looking to increase its SLCP mitigation activities in the municipal solid waste, transport, agriculture, household energy, industry and oil and gas sectors. In 2020, with the support of the Coalition, Chad finalized its first integrated national emission inventory on SLCPs, greenhouse gases, and air pollutants, which has enhanced capacity for national planning for SLCP mitigation. In 2023 the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development requested CCAC to develop a National SLCP Plan, a National Methane Roadmap, recommendations to include SLCP mitigation measures and targets in Chad’s updated NDC, Fourth Communication, Biennial Transparency Report (BTR), and Biennial Update Report (BUR), develop an integrated greenhouse gas (GHG) and SLCP monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) framework, and deliver training to policy makers to SLCP emissions reductions, priority mitigation measures and emissions modelling. This project has been launched in November 2023. The CCAC is therefore seeking a National Project Coordinator to strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development of Chad for national SLCP mitigation planning, policies and implementation and more specifically the delivery of a National Short-lived Climate Pollutant (SLCP) Plan and a National Methane Roadmap.
