POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Application Analyst Intern

Location: Country Office, Abuja

Supervisor: Senior Technical Officer, Health Informatics

Job Summary:

The Application Analyst Intern will assist in developing or modifying information systems. Assist in preparing detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Conduct code reviews, test, debug, document, and maintain software applications. Perform queries, generate reports from applications or databases, and provide technical assistance as needed.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop applications (coding, programming) or update existing applications based on user requirements.
  • Create documentation for and test new software applications.
  • Participate in peer code reviews to debug codes, improve code quality, and fix errors that will improve performance.
  • Implement and maintain software systems, databases, and applications that support the monitoring and evaluation process.
  • Provide insights from data and improve the accuracy of evaluation results.
  • Conduct research on new technologies and techniques to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate and interact with cross-functional teams to research, investigate, and fix a wide range of technical issues.
  • Create and code appropriate solutions from broadly described challenges.
  • Analyze trends to identify trends and formulate solutions.
  • Design and develop user-friendly interfaces, dashboards, and reports.

    Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:

    • Knowledge and experience in Spring Boot, Hibernate, SQL, and PostgreSQL.
    • Experience with various programming languages - Java, C, C++, Python, JavaScript, Angular, Flutter, etc.
    • Understanding of software development best practices and ability to work in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of data science and machine learning algorithms and techniques
    • Experience in using data science tools such as R, Python, etc.
    • Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with staff.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Highly developed analytical skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced workplace to produce high-quality software.
    • Proficiency in using design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, etc.

      Qualifications and Requirements:

      • Bachelor's, degree or its International Equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with 1-3 years Post NYSC experience.
