Action contre la Faim has started its humanitarian activies in Cameroon since 1998. Since 2014, our action has focused mainly in the Eastern Region and the Far North of the country on emergency programs initiated with refugees and affected host communities by socio-political unrest in CAR and violence related to Boko Haram activity in the Lake Chad region. Action contre la Faim has set up emergency and long-term nutrition and water, sanitation and hygiene programs. Since the end of 2018, we are also present in the South-West, in support of the crisis that rages in this region. Our strategy in 2020 was based on responding to immediate humanitarian needs and contributing to economic recovery and strengthening resilience and social cohesion in Cameroon. Today there are about 160 national and 15 international employees on the mission, working in 5 bases: Batouri in the East, Maroua and Kousseri in the Far North, Buéa in the South West and coordination in Yaoundé.
Buea is the capital of the Southwest region and the largest city in the region. It is located about 300 kilometers west of Yaoundé. The situation remains tense in and around the city, with cases of urban crime (i.e., robberies, violent robberies), clashes between non-state armed groups and security forces throughout the English-speaking regions, both in remote areas and in the cities. There is one compound for the housing of ACF's international teams that offers decent living conditions for expatriates. Freedom of movement is limited by a 10:00 p.m. curfew and social opportunities exist but are limited. Access to Buea is by car via Douala from Yaoundé.
As Buea Field Coordinator, you will manage 6 staffs directly (Humanitarian Access & Security Manager, Health and Nutrition Programme Manager, Mental Health, Care Practices, Gender and Protection, HR & Finance Program Managers, Base Logistician and MEAL Officer) with a 1,5M euros budget). You will frequently travel to Kumba and works with GAD and ECHO donors.
You role is to coordinate ACF intervention at field level. More precisely your missions will be to :
Manage overall security and safety on the base: monitor the security environment, meet stakeholders, update local security plan, report and manage security incidentsCoordinate ACF strategy development and implementationCoordinate the implementation of programs at field level: health and nutrition response, new projects, ensure recommendations...Manage the team: recruitment, trainings, PSEA policy, capacity building...Facilitate good relationships with the coordination team Represent ACF with regional authorities, UN and NGOsEnsure reporting and communication

This position is interesting in an emergency context. Nevertheless Buea, where main office is quite. The size of the team is 35 staffs, therefore relatively small, but most of field team is based in Kumba (an hour drive from Buea). There is currently one Humanitarian Access & Security Manager, one health nutrition and one Mental Health, Care Practices program Manager project in the area) with one assessment team and 2 mobile clinic teams.
