Background

The Green Climate Fund (“GCF”) is a multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change.
GCF will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, GCF will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. GCF is governed by a Board, composed of an equal representation of developed and developing countries. The Fund is operated by an independent Secretariat headed by an Executive Director.

The Fund seeks to recruit a Strategic Analytics Consultant to carry out the tasks, duties and responsibilities, deliver the set deliverables and provide support to the hiring unit as detailed below. The consultant will join GCF team on HQ based. The assignment is for an initial 230days over a 12 months-month period.

Role

The consultant will support the Principal Data Scientist (Division of Support Services, ICT Unit) in reinforcing self-service analytics and data culture and carrying out associated tasks. The Fund is mobilizing data as a strategic resource, using a phased approach, with implementation and scaling to continue during the next year across the organization. The consultant will support the development and enhancement of dashboards and analytics processes enabling the Fund’s operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to:

Under the overall guidance of the Principal Data Scientist, the Strategic Analytics Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Support the use of self-service analytics including development and maintenance of dashboards, data quality assurance, and testing;
• Help end users understand and leverage data sources;
• Connect analytics use cases and showcase best practices across the organization;
• Contribute to strengthening data culture and the use of interactive dashboards for automation, efficiency, and decision making;
• Assist in project design and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking;
• Participate in the development of internal documents, plans, visualizations, and reports;

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Master’s in Information Technology, Business Administration, Analytics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or related fields;
• At least two years of relevant work experience in analytics and innovation is preferred;
• Experience with change management, particularly data culture, is desirable;
• Experience with customer relationship management or customer experience software is also desirable;
• Proficiency with business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau;
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English; knowledge of another UN language is an advantage;
• Good understanding and experience of operations of international organizations is an added advantage;
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment with diverse stakeholders, and to work independently and take initiative in response to the Fund's needs.
