Executive Secretary of the Staff Retirement Plans – Investment Team

We are looking for a detail-oriented, dedicated, and team-oriented professional to work as Investments Operations Consultant in our Investment Team within the Executive Secretariat of the Staff Retirement Plans. As Investments Operations Consultant, you will support the team’s operations activities including cash and accounts reconciliation, performance calculation and reporting, rebalancing proposals, trade execution and settlement, cash flows monitoring, compliance monitoring, and automation of processes.

The Investment team is responsible for overseeing five Plans with assets totaling more than $7.2 billion: three defined benefit pension Plans (Staff, Local and Complementary Staff), one Postretirement Benefits Plan and a Retiree Life Insurance Program. The five Plans’ assets are diversified and are subject to governing committee-approved Investment Policy Statements (IPS). In addition to managing the Plans’ diverse asset class investments, which are managed in more than 80 individual fund / strategy vehicles by more than 20 investment management firms, the team provides input to the Finance, Human Resources and Risk Management Departments, to senior Management, to the Board of Executive Directors and to Governing Committees, all of which require subject matter expertise (SME), multi-group interaction and reporting deliverables.

What you’ll do

Contribute with the implementation, execution, and settlement of transactions, review and pay fee invoices, reconcile cash and investment accounts, prepare performance reports, maintain databases of assets and performance. Participate in the external audit engagements of the Plans’ financial statements, and any relevant internal audit requests. Assist with the five Plans’ quarterly and annual financial statements preparation. Support the Bank in the implementation of its climate-related disclosures under global sustainability reporting standards (e.g. Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), International Sustainability Standards Boards (ISSB), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) frameworks). Build spreadsheets and dashboards to enhance monthly rebalancing process, portfolio monitoring and reporting. Automate tasks within operations. Knowledge of tools such as Power Bi, Power Automate, Tableau, Bloomberg, SAP, or programing skills is desired. Monitor compliance with investment guidelines, assess custodian and asset managers internal controls through the review of their internal control reports (SSAE 18), review of commingled fund audited financial statements, and pricing policies. Assist with operational due diligence meetings with asset managers. Enhance and/or develop risk metrics and controls for operational, credit, financial and market risks. Assist with the calculation of daily, monthly, and quarterly performance and collaborate in the preparation of presentation-ready reports for the Plans’ governing committees and management, including Board decision-making documents on an ad hoc basis.

What you'll need

Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics or Statistics, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Progress towards professional designation CPA, CFA, FRM or similar accounting or finance designation desired. Experience: At least two years of relevant professional experience in accounting, finance and/or investments. Experience in operations, risk management and/or transactions strongly desired. Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required. Programming / Analytics: Knowledge of MS Project, Power Bi, Tableau, SQL and/or other programming, analytics, and visualization systems.

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
