About this position

We are looking for a persuasive, empathetic, supportive, and assertive Communication Consultant. As Communication Consultant, you will contribute to the implementation of the communications strategy.

You will work in the Gender and Diversity Division (GDI) part of the Social Sector (SCL).This team mission is to promote: (a) gender equality and empowerment, (b) development with identity of indigenous peoples, and (c) the inclusion of African descendants, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. It supports Bank operations, provides policy and strategic guidance, and carries out technical assistance and training.

The Gender and Diversity Division looks forward to continuing developing and implementing forms of dissemination based on an it’s Communication Strategy. The communication goal is to convey to internal and external audiences the strategic lines of action, and operational and knowledge products of the division.

The internal audience is comprised of other Units/Divisions/Departments within the IDB. The external audience consists of Latin American and Caribbean national and state governments, NGOs and other organizations with similar missions, media, and other key audiences.

What you’ll do

· Design, lead, and implement the communication strategy for the GDI division, in coordination with the relevant areas of the bank, with the aim of positioning the bank as a strategic partner in the region for the development of policies and operations in gender and diversity matters.

· Organize the work plan for the communication team, aligning it with the needs and priorities of the division and the bank, and considering the availability of financial and human resources allocated to this task.

· Coordinate with the different teams to ensure the successful execution of the communication plan.

· Develop and write speeches, briefings, and other communications for bank management.

· Conduct necessary research and analysis to ensure the relevance of messages and public interventions by the division members.

· Contribute to the development and strengthening of alliances with the public, private sector, and multilateral organizations.

· Write and edit articles, technical reports, informational documents, presentations, blogs, web content, and other publications, translating complex concepts and ideas into clear language.

· Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders to research, write, and develop communications to promote the bank's business internally and externally.

· Draft video scripts, production plans, and other communication materials in coordination with teams and providers to produce multimedia communication products.

· Support the design of dissemination and impact strategies for blogs, articles, books, and graphic and audiovisual materials.

· Design and implement a digital communication strategy to promote the division activities and institutional positioning.

· Design and implement a relationship and positioning strategy for the unit and its specialists with strategic audiences in the field of migration at a regional level.

· Identify opportunities to generate communication actions both internally, in collaboration with other bank areas, and externally, with other institutions and professionals working on similar topics.

· Conduct quality control for all digital and printed outreach materials, including but not limited to blog posts, articles, books, presentations, graphic materials, and audiovisual content on social media.

· Update and monitor the impact of the BID's web pages on migration issues as needed, in terms of audience analysis, goal achievement, and communication strategies.

· Coordinate the layout, editing, dissemination, and evaluation of knowledge products generated by the unit following editorial guidelines and BID brand specifications.

· Provide support in the development of presentations by unit staff to internal and external audiences.

· Assist in the organization of public and private events on gender and diversity topics.

· Coordinate service contracts for translation, design, editing, programming, etc.

· Support the division Head and teams in designing the division’s strategy and work plan.

· Co-lead the organization and logistics of the regional policy dialogues for the division

· Assist the division Head in executing the training program.

What you'll need

· Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Communications or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.

· Experience: At least 7 years of progressive experience in communications, social media engagement or related field.

· Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements

· Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.

· Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
