Position Overview

The Senior Specialist, Global Health, provides technical, management, and organizational within the Pact Global Health Team and contributes to the quality and performance of multiple projects in Pact’s global health portfolio. The Senior Specialist works closely with Global Health Team members and country-based health staff to support project implementation, business development, and thought leadership across three key areas: disease prevention, care and treatment; health and social welfare systems strengthening; and global health security. The Senior Specialist provides high quality and efficient support on a range of day-to-day functions of the global health team and contributes to the successful implementation of technical and program deliverables for select health projects and team-wide initiatives. The Senior Specialist leads specific technical tasks or assignments based on areas of expertise/knowledge. This position reports to the Senior Director, Global Health.

Key Responsibilities

Technical delivery:

• Provide general technical support for project start-up, implementation, monitoring, and close-out, in close collaboration with health technical leads.
• Assist to review, provide inputs into, and edit project workplans, reports, presentations, and other deliverables required, and ensure adherence to donor and Pact’s policies and guidelines.

• Perform basic research and literature reviews to inform project activities, and share tools and materials from similar projects inside and outside of Pact.
• Support the development, review, and finalization of technical scopes of work and budgets for subawards in health projects, ensuring alignment with internal and donor expectations and requirements.
• Support the health team to engage with and monitor work of technical consultants, ensuring that tasks and deliverables are completed.
• Collaborate closely and liaise with other technical and operational teams to enhance provision of effective support for project implementation.
• Assist country-based project teams to implement, monitor, and report on activities.
• Assist with collection, documentation, and dissemination of successes, learnings, and/or best practices for select health projects.

Business development

• Supports pre-positioning and development of health proposals, concept papers, and/or presentations to respond to strategic growth opportunities.
• Conducts research, writes and/or reviews specific content, prepares capability statements, and develops workplans and/or budget inputs in close consultation with the health team design leads.
• Supports identification and tracking of business development opportunities.
• Assist to develop and nurture strategic partnerships in global health.

Thought leadership

• Assist to organize, facilitate, and/or document the global health team’s community of practice and other opportunities or platform for internal and external experience exchange and learning on key technical topics.
• Collaborate with health team to position for growth in global priority areas, such as mental health and global health security, and develop relevant tools and resources.
• Perform background research for technical documents and assist to review and edit content.
• Collaborate with the health team and project staff to write key highlights for the Pact web site, blogs, newsletters, briefs, and other documents.
• Assist with ongoing update of the health team’s capability statements, including areas of focus, capabilities, and data-backed results.
• Assist to organize and coordinate in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid events, including webinars and conference sessions, that contribute to Pact’s thought leadership performance indicators.

Basic Requirements

Master's degree with four (4) years work experience or bachelor's degree with at least six (6+) years work experienceProfessional experience in supporting international public health programs in areas such as HIV/AIDS, RMNCAH, systems strengthening, or pandemic preparedness and response.Strong management, analytical, and writing skills.Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks, take initiative in solving problems, and manage a variety of activities concurrently.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated skills in working collaboratively with professional colleagues in a broad range of local and international nongovernmental, governmental, and international organizations within multiple socio-cultural contexts.Ability to work under pressure of work and yet deliver effectively.Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including excellent skills in drafting business correspondence.Proficiency with MS Office tools including Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous relevant overseas work experience is a plus.

Experience coordinating with international field offices preferred.

Willingness and availability to travel internationally for up to 10-15% of the time.
