Terms of ReferenceAs 12 April 2024, more than 5.2 million refugees from Ukraine have entered Romania, mostly transiting through the country. Approximately, 157,057 Ukrainians have applied for temporary protection in Romania. In addition, Romania registered 10,156 asylum applications in 2023, and is currently hosting around 4,600 beneficiaries of international protection and subsidiary protection, including nationals from Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Ukraine, Yemen, Palestine, and some stateless persons. The UNHCR Field Office’s area of responsibility includes 11 counties in Northern Romania where five implementing partners respond in ten locations. The Romania Operation maintains a weekly reporting schedule and endeavers to improve it social media engagement through highlighting community engagement events and partner activities.
Governmental coordination structures were activated in 2022 for the emergency and protection response. The humanitarian response has transitioned from the emergency phase, but maintains contingency preparedness. In November 2023, the Suceava Prefecture and UNHCR launched the Refugee Inclusion Working Group, aimed at finding localized solutions to problems facing Ukrainian Refugees. The Working Group members includes UN Agencies, NGOs and relevant government authorities. The Reporting and Coordination Intern will be under the direct supervision of the Head of Field Office in Suceava.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Public Information Portfolio: the intern, in cooperation with the External Relations Unit in the UNHCR Country Office in Bucharest, will draft social media posts and contribute to human intererest stories for the Suceava Field Office.
• Reporting Portfolio: the Intern will assist colleagues to document Suceava Field Office activities and consolidate inputs for weekly reporting requirements of the Operation.
• Coordination Portfolio: the Intern will assist in the Head of Field Office and Protection colleagues in the secretariat duties of Refugee Inclusion Working Group. This will include drafting meeting minutes, reporting and tracking of action items.
• Other duties as required.
Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR. Relevant degrees include journalism, photography, international relations, communications, languages and literature, any social science or related liberal arts disciplines.
Desirable qualifications and skills
The right candidate for this position would have the following:
• Proficiency in both Romanian and English. Ability to translate documents accurately between the two languages.
• Good analytical skills with competencies in written and verbal communication
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to create, edit, and format documents and presentations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Self-motivated, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Prior coursework and experience in photography or videography is an advantage.

Conditions
It is a full time role with working hours starting from 9.00am to 6:00pm Monday to Thursday and 9:00am to 3:30pm on Friday (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team in Suceava
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
