The Rapid Gender Analysis (RGA) Coordinator is an exciting new role in CARE created to help drive forward the shift to locally-driven and women-centred needs assessments in emergencies. Since 2013, CARE has delivered RGAs in more than 60 crises, and is now striving to have CARE’s RGA methodology become standard practice across the humanitarian community, transforming the sector’s understanding of humanitarian needs assessments.

This role is critical in driving CARE’s work to build and maintain the necessary skills, expertise, technology and coordination so that the RGA tool is used across humanitarian contexts to help shift decision-making at local, national and global levels. The RGA Coordinator will be the lead in overseeing this expansion and transformation. This role will be responsible for: the oversight of consistent delivery of high-quality gender analysis at rapid speed; designing and delivering a localisation plan inclusive of the ongoing support and mentoring of local women’s groups; building, managing and sustaining partnerships and relationships with key humanitarian actors, sector leads and organisations to ensure the widespread use of RGA products to support more equitable responses; develop and work with a review group to improve and enhance the RGA toolkit, inclusive of improving digital tools.

The RGA Coordinator position is responsible for ensuring appropriate management and effective stewardship of funds associated with RGA work held under the Sall Family Foundation project.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of and Support to RGA Teams
  • Manage and foster key organizational relationships
  • Design and deliver a localization plan
  • Budget management and donor reporting
  • Create and lead a RGA Review Group to enhance RGA toolkit
  • Other tasks as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (international affairs, public policy gender studies, public health, etc)
  • 3-5 years of gender in emergencies work experience in humanitarian and transition/recovery programming required
  • Demonstrable practical expertise in gender related field research techniques, working with and cultivating / maintaining relationships with local organizations
  • Project management experience
  • Budget management experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • A minimum of 2-3 years field experience in a humanitarian context
  • Experience and commitment to promoting gender equality within humanitarian work
  • Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to process large amounts of information, extract critical analysis and distribute it appropriately
  • Experience with qualitative data analysis, with quick turnaround time for use
  • Familiarity with digital data collection systems
  • Synthesizing and translating key findings into stories and key messages
  • Experience and capacity to work in harsh conditions and insecure environments
