About Department: Institute for Capacity Development (ICD)

The IMF works with countries to strengthen their economic institutions by providing technical assistance and training (collectively referred to as Capacity Development (CD)) on critical economic issues. Amongst its other mandates, the Institute for Capacity Development is responsible for coordinating the overall governance and strategy of the Fund’s CD program, which is managed through the Strategy & Evaluation division (ICDSE). ICDSE also oversees the framework for assessing CD performance through evaluation and results-based management.

Description

We are looking for an intern with some academic graduate-level public-policy experience. The summer work project will involve looking at country case studies to discern common trends around the political economy of fiscal/market reforms with reference to the institutional capacity of the country, the political cycle, design of interventions amongst other factors.

Internships will be in-person located at the IMF headquarters in Washington DC. Interns work under the supervision of an experienced staff member in ICD.

Qualifications

To compete for an ICD internship, at a minimum you must:

• Be enrolled in a graduate-level degree program in public policy

• Be in student status at the time of the internship.

• Be in good academic standing.

• Have an excellent command of English (both written and oral).

• Show an interest in, and aptitude for working in a multicultural environment.
