Job description

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a global programme for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. CPS experts provide long-term support to local partners in their commitment to dialogue, human rights, and peace. The GIZ CPS programme in Ukraine focuses on a positive approach to diversity and reducing prejudices and stereotypes. It aims to counteract social polarization in Eastern Ukraine by supporting education and community dialogue and promoting non-violent conflict transformation. The CPS of GIZ in Ukraine cooperates with civil society organizations and governmental institutions. Result based “Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation” (PM&E) is an integrated system of quality assurance regarding conceptualization and management of CPS programmes. A guideline and working aids provide orientation for the PM&E system in place. The activities listed below will initially be carried out from Bonn.

Your tasks

Supports the Programme Coordinator in strategic and operational planning as well as the implementation of the programme, according to the indicators and expected outcomes Develops, implements, and adjusts a sustainable PM&E system, based on the guidelines and working aids of CPS/GIZ Adapts and develops PM&E tools in accordance with the (war) context in Ukraine Assesses the capacities of local partner organizations, related to result-based PM&E and provides advice and trainings Facilitates planning workshops and processes with advisors and partner organizations Formulates recommendations to the programme and its partner organizations, based on the analysis of monitoring and evaluation processes Enhances the integration of formative guidelines on Conflict Sensitivity, Human Rights-based approach, Gender Equality and Participatory Methods in all PM&E processes Assists the Programme Coordinator in monitoring and reporting of the achieved programme results Contributes to the knowledge management of the CPS of GIZ Participates actively in the global CPS PM&E team and advises the CPS global team

Your profile

University degree in social or political science, peace and conflict studies, education or psychology (equivalent to MA) Certified additional trainings in the field of peace work (if possible, in Do-No-Harm, Reflecting on Peace Practice, Peace and Conflict Analysis) and in the field of planning, monitoring and evaluation; human rights, gender equality and/or participatory approaches Experience as PM&E advisor A good understanding of the Ukrainian context and conflict prevention issues Very good skills and proven experience in the facilitation of participatory workshops and trainings Proven commitment and experience in civil society-based advocacy work for peace, democracy, education, human rights, or gender equality Experience in cooperation with state institutions (ideally in the educational system) as well as non-governmental organizations Integrative team player, ready for continuous self-reflection, solution oriented, patient, and resilient Very good communication and negotiation skills Business fluent in German and English; preferably knowledge of the Ukrainian and/or Russian language

Notes

This job is suited to a full or a part-time position.

There is an option for extension until probably end 2024, subject to corresponding order intake.

In order to fulfill the company's objectives, the willingness of employees for assignments at all GIZ locations in Germany and abroad is of high corporate interest.

The field of activity of the position relates to Ukraine. The activities are currently carried out to Bonn. Depending on the security situation and the requirements of GIZ, it is possible that the location will be relocated from Bonn back to Ukraine, in a Development Advisor modus.
