Job description

Within GIZ, the department International Services (GIZ InS) is in charge of clients such as intergovernmental organisations, development banks, governments and private companies. In implementing projects for this broad range of clients, InS follows the GIZ mission of sustainable development for a future worth living. We offer our clients highly competent and efficient teams of German, international and local professionals in more than 120 countries.

Our Private Sector Clients team works at the dynamic interface between the private sector and international cooperation. We support companies in the process of implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) worldwide with a focus on Africa, Asia, and Latin America. In doing so, we scale international cooperation solutions that have proven successful or test innovative approaches that are familiar to us in local contexts. We offer companies individual advice, from the idea to the conception, and project management up to the proof of measurable results and effects. Our portfolio includes projects in the agricultural, mining, forestry, education, and healthcare sectors, as well as waste management with a growing focus on circular economy approaches. Our clients come from the food, retail, automotive, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.

We are looking for an experienced project manager (m/f/d) “Health Care” to support our Private Sector Clients team.

Your tasks

Your tasks will focus on the conception, acquisition and implementation of projects for large, multi-national companies in the healthcare industry to implement their sustainability strategies and contribute to the sustainable development goals. In close exchange with clients and the respective specialist departments within GIZ, you will develop tailor-made proposals with a high impact orientation.

In the context of business development, you independently establish relevant contacts to current and potential clients and further develop those in a result-oriented manner. You are in continuous exchange with GIZ project and program managers relevant to the private sector and identify opportunities for cooperation.

Together with the project teams on site, you take on the management of projects with terms of up to 3 years and are responsible for contractual project execution. During the project implementation you ensure the success of the project through professional management as well as quality assurance of content and commercial aspects.

Your profile

You have at least 4 years of project experience in the field of sustainability and in cooperation with large private sector companies. In this context, you worked either as a consultant (m/f/d) in an international environment, implementing sustainability projects for large private sector clients from the healthcare industry, or you worked in a strategic position in the implementation of CSR-goals in a large, multi-national corporation, operating in the healthcare sector. You successfully obtained a Master’s level university degree with a focus on a relevant topic. You have experience in the conception and implementation of complex international projects with actors from the healthcare industry, politics, and civil society. You are characterized by high analytical skills. You are an excellent communicator. You are a team player. You have a high intrinsic motivation for sustainability and international cooperation. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and recognize opportunities and design options. You are implementation and problem-solving oriented. You have experience abroad in a developing or emerging country; experience especially in African countries is an advantage; you are open to business trips to developing countries. You have an established, relevant network and a high level of expertise in relationship management. Experience in coordinating international teams is an advantage. You have business fluent language skills in English and German, knowledge of French will be considered as an asset.
