Job description

GET.transform is a European multi-donor program focused on supporting energy and power system transformations in emerging economies. The mission is to provide comprehensive project manager services in areas like long-term energy planning, renewable energy grid integration, energy policy, regulation, and market development. We are currently seeking an experienced project manager (m/f/d) for our activities in Namibia. Based in Windhoek, this role involves project management, enhancing electricity supply security, expanding access, and supporting the implementation of Namibia's National Integrated Resources Plan.

Your tasks

As a team of two GET.transform experts establish and co-steer the Country Window in Namibia, including engagement with the EU delegation in Windhoek as well as other GIZ partner projects for effective collaboration Identify and address policy and regulatory support needs by collaborating with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, regulatory bodies, electric utilities and develop tailored advisory approaches Coordinate the implementation of projects with international short-term and long-term expert consulting teams, ensuring synergy and complementarity with other EU support and development partner activities in Namibia Administer international consulting service contracts and coordinate expert assignments in the areas of institutional reforms in energy policy, regulation, and markets Foster exchange networks and manage implementation partnerships with strategic multilateral and regional partner organizations Organize workshops, seminars and other events to facilitate information sharing among government decision-makers, industry representatives, and experts, representing GET.transform at public events Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of project activities and their impacts in GET.transform Namibia

Your profile

Master's degree in Economics, Law, Policy, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, with a specialization in sustainable energy and power systems Several years of relevant work experience in the field of sustainable energy Comprehensive technical understanding of key aspects like renewable energy (RE) procurement mechanisms, RE grid integration, long-term energy and power system planning, and RE regulatory frameworks Several years of professional experience and strong project management expertise, encompassing the administration and coordination of international consulting service contracts, as well as experience with monitoring and evaluation systems Work experience in Africa, especially in the region of Southern Africa is an advantage Demonstrate a proven track record of engaging directly with government agencies, energy ministries, regulators, energy utilities, and private sector stakeholders Exceptional collaboration skills, thriving in multi-disciplinary teams and embracing diverse and complex environments associated with sustainable energy projects Outstanding writing, verbal, and presentation skills, with an ability to effectively communicate complex policy issues to both technical and non-technical audiences Business fluent in English; German and other European and African language skills are an advantage
