Job Purpose and Organizational Context As the United Nations lead agency on international development, UNDP works in 170 countries and territories to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. UNDP helps countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, and institutional capabilities, and to build resilience to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. Our work is concentrated in three focus areas; sustainable development, democratic governance and, peacebuilding, and climate and disaster resilience. Under the new project, UNDP aims to reduce the risk to life and property and facilitate the safe redevelopment and resettlement to the Karabakh Economic Region by increasing the operational national capacity together with providing institutional capacity to the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) to fulfill the mandated roles as defined by presidential decree. This sets out the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (“FCDO”) expectations for a specific Global Project component to be set up and administered by the UnitedNations Development Program(“UNDP”) for the primary purposeof providing a mechanism for supporting the effectiveness of efforts in the demining and clearance of unexploded ordnance, as well as wider mine action, in the areas affected by the conflict.Particularly, this projectwill have a cross-cutting aim to promote gender inclusion into the operational areas of mine action, challenge perceived stereotypes on the role of women,and encourage the inclusion of NGOs. By doing so, this projectpromotes gender inclusion in mine action,challenging barriers and stereotypes. It will also generate powerfuloptics which will have implications for the wideragenda of promoting equality and inclusion in other sectors and aims to provide employment opportunities and promote gender in the operational mine clearance efforts. This project will also seek to include career path development plans and opportunities for females in the future. More to that, through the project, Explosive Ordnance Risk Education and Victim Assistance will be developed with the support of internationally deployed experts. In this role, the ProjectDriver under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and in daily coordination with the project team will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day transportation for the project activities and accompanying the international experts' visits to the regions. Due to the growing frequency of trips for monitoring the demining process, the Project Driver will be tasked with accompanying international experts during their field trips to mine and UXO risk areas. Duties and Responsibilities
The Project Driver will provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. In more detail, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Provides reliable and safe driving of the assigned programmevehicle for the transport of authorized personnel of Mine Action programmestaff at UNDP, and expertson a mission when required;follow strictly all rules and regulations in relation to the use and management of UNDP vehiclesas provided by the Operations Unit; Advice and fully bear the responsibility on the most optimal road itinerary to/from the travel destination; be prepared to travel throughout the programme area when required in extended periods away from the duty station and work outside normal hours when required; Ensure that the assigned vehicleis parked in the authorized safe parking places; Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle including checks of the car engine, battery, oil, brakes,spark plugs, water and electrolyte levels, petrol consumption, tire pressures and general road worthiness, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil/filters, car washing, etc.; Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehiclethrough accurate maintenance of daily vehiclelogs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehiclemaintenance plans and reports; Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, dailymileage, fuel consumptions, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle;ensures that steps requiredby rules and regulations are taken in case of an accident; Collects and delivers mail, documents or other items; and performs any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.The Project Driver will work under the direct guidance and overall supervision of the Programme Advisor.
