Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Consultant

About this position:

We are looking for a strategic and qualified advanced professional to join its Resource Mobilization Division (REM), reporting directly to the REM Division Chief. The position requires a thorough knowledge of the socio-economic development challenges in the Latin American and Caribbean region and a professional experience on public-private partnerships.

The REM Division plays a leading role in mobilizing additional financing to public and private interventions in the IDB Group, in coordination with Vice Presidencies of Country (VPC), Sector (VPS), Finance and Administration (VPF), respectively, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab. In recent years the team has multiplied its efforts to develop and manage partners from the private and emerging sector towards the creation and promotion of new investment opportunities in and for the LAC region, while maintaining the relations with the traditional public partners. In addition, it fostered the development of innovative products that unlock additional financing even from traditional donors.

What you will do:

You will be responsible for developing and implementing the partnerships and mobilization strategies and action plans, formalizing purposeful partnerships, and providing technical advice in close coordination with other IDB Group units.

Key activities include:

In coordination with the relevant country and operational departments, coordinate interdisciplinary working groups to develop and implement the external resource mobilization, while ensuring alignment with the IDB Group’s strategy and priorities. Support in the expansion the IDB Group’s strategic alliances and dialogue with the key stakeholders based on a systematic political analysis of the context and trends of the partners with special focus on our different borrowing/donor member countries, as well as adapting to the evolving landscape of resource mobilization towards the SDGs.

Further detailed activities include:

Enhance existing mobilization efforts for IDB regional initiatives through further expanding engagement with partners such as governments, companies, foundations, universities, non-government organizations, as well as identifying and mapping of other new key players in the development community. Participate in development of instruments to catalyze private financing to fill the financing gaps. Contribute to the expansion of collaboration with private sector partners to mobilize resources and bring together diverse industries to explore the main challenges facing the region, mobilizing their commitment to pursuing a post-pandemic recovery alongside the IDB Group.

What you'll need:

Education: master’s degree or equivalent in economics, legal, business administration, finance, international development, or other related fields. Experience: At least 5 years of proven experience related to the key responsibilities of the position. Deep understanding of IDB Group’s strategies, priorities, and relevant regulations in both the operations and corporate areas. Languages: Proficiency (oral and written) in Spanish and English. Knowledge of an additional official Bank language (Portuguese and French) is a plus.

Requirements:

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
