PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation Specialist is a part of the Global Development unit, which reports directly to the GWP Executive Secretary Office. The Global Development unit serves as the lead unit, in close collaboration with the Executive Secretary and the Strategy and Global Processes Coordinator, in the overall effort to mobilise and sustain growth in the funding base of GWP, through targeted strategies and sustained relationships with existing and potential donors, including maintain a GWP-wide systemic coordination function for the management of donor and partner relationships. The unit will facilitate and direct the functioning of the donor partnership element of GWP globally, and provide strategic, policy, and, where possible, operational support across GWP in resource mobilisation efforts (training, information, advice, donor intelligence, tools and procedures, proposal support), thereby promoting a learning culture for resource mobilisation.

In short, the Global Development unit is responsible for (i) global partner and donor strategy development and implementation for a diversified financial menu; (ii) partnership and programme/initiative development, relationship management, and community building; (iii) global advocacy and outreach to influence agendas and mobilize financial resources; and (iv) strategic coordination of GWP-wide aligned resource mobilisation efforts, in close collaboration with all global units and Regional Water Partnerships.

The seniority of the position and its salary grade may vary depending on the experience and background of the candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Exceptional competencies in writing, communication, and facilitation
  • Advanced university degree (masters or equivalent) in international affairs, communications, business, environmental studies, or a related field
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in the broader sector of resource mobilisation and partnership strategy in CSOs or interational institutions in the context of sustainable development. Knowledge of global water and climate resilience-related processes and of the water sector more generally is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Proven access to a global network of donors and partners and leverage to build new networks and mobilize financing, short and long-term
  • Demonstrated experience in developing partnerships for resource mobilisation, with proven track record in securing resources for projects and programmes
  • Demonstrated experience with programme design and proposal development aligned with donor priorities, strategies and interests
  • Strong ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multicultural context and with team members in various locations and from multiple organisations
  • Strong ability to describe technical, policy or programmatic issues in an intuitively understandable way; ability to integrate different experiences, methodologies, and approaches from a diverse range of stakeholders from multiple sectors
  • Multilingual proficiency is preferred, such as French, Spanish and/or Arabic
