Where you come in:

In this full-time permanent position (part-time options will be considered), based in Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra (remote working arrangements will also be considered),* you will provide expert policy and advocacy advice across a range of aid, development, and child rights policy issues for children in the Pacific. In particular, you will cover the thematic priorities of climate change, child protection, education and nutrition. You will be part of our Policy Team and report to our Head of Policy.

You will make an impact by:

Providing high level policy advice across a range of aid and development and child rights policy issues, with a strong focus on the Pacific Preparing evidence-based and influential research briefs for advocacy purposes Working collaboratively across the aid and development sector to develop joint advocacy positions and strategies Preparing submissions for inquiries and consultations and assist in representing Save the Children Australia in presenting such submissions during hearings Participating in Save the Children International working groups and other forums to advance the organisation’s policy, research, and advocacy work Representing Save the Children Australia at high-level meetings and contribute to policy dialogue, with high-level stakeholders including DFAT, the Australian Council for International Development, and other government and non-government actors

You are a highly motivated and values driven professional with the background and knowledge of what is happening for children in the Pacific. You can confidently work independently, while collaborating with a wide range of people with a range of skill sets, whether they are working in the field or in Melbourne. You are passionate about the protection and promotion of children’s rights and want to do work that directly impacts the lives of children in the Pacific.

This role requires:

Experience working on Pacific policy and advocacy issues Experience in delivering successful advocacy campaigns Policy analysis skills, including the ability to analyse complex policy issues and adapt for a variety of audiences Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt writing style for a range of audiences and products including government submissions, internal policy briefs, and media Stakeholder management skills both internally and externally
