About this position

We are looking for an experienced technical leader with experience championing gender and diversity initiatives in international finance institutions to advise the Special Advisor on Gender and Diversity for the IDB Group. Specific knowledge of IDB policies, action plans, strategies, and systems for strategic alignment in operations related to gender and diversity will support the Office of the Special Advisor on Gender and Diversity to advance IDB Group’s agenda on gender and diversity to achieve development for Latin America and the Caribbean in a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-friendly way.

Reporting directly to the Special Advisor on Gender and Diversity the Operations Senior Advisor / Advisor will provide strategic advice and support to enhance coordination and foster synergies within the IDB Group to achieve greater impact. The Office will support the monitoring of the IDB Group’s programming processes and prioritization of analytical work to ensure Gender and Diversity issues are well reflected in its operational and knowledge generation portfolio. The Office will advise the President of the Bank on the respective Action Plans, development impact of IDB Group financed activities and related corporate affairs.

What you’ll do:

Provide advice to the Special Advisor on Gender and Diversity to advance IDB Group’s agenda on gender and diversity. Support the establishment of the Office of the Special Advisor on Gender and Diversity in annual planning, implementation, and definition of the Office’s work program, while monitoring the quality of outputs, achievement of long-term goals, and annual objectives and KPI’s for the Office. Support engagement with the Offices of the Special Advisors on Gender and Diversity and the IDBG organizational units working on these issues. Support the preparation of the multi-year Gender and Diversity Action Plan for the IDB Group as well as its annual reporting. Support the monitoring of programming in relation to IDB Group’s Gender and Diversity targets. Participate in the prioritization of specific diversity issues in the knowledge agenda across IDB Group. Support the coordination of the IDB Group’s communications on Gender and Diversity issues in collaboration with internal organizational units. Contribute to actions to enhance the internal visibility of Gender and Diversity at the IDB Group.

What you'll need

Education: A Master’s degree in gender and development, sustainability, international development, regional planning, global development, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Experience: At least 10 years of progressive experience in leading high impact initiatives at the global and regional level towards advancing diversity and gender initiatives, with at least 7 years at a senior technical leadership level. Proven experience advancing gender and diversity related development topics in a multilateral development environment is a plus. In-depth knowledge of the contemporary social and economic issues related to gender and diversity, with a proven track record of navigating institutional aspects of policy formulation and planning at the executive and corporate level from the perspective of an international finance institution You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively influence and work with all levels of staff and internal and external counterparts. Proven record of working collaboratively and fostering a synergistic engagement environment across functions of an international finance institutions. Demonstrated understanding on gender and diversity related policies, action plans and frameworks in a way that influences internal and external stakeholders. Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

Requirements

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
