The OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. It therefore addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, combating human trafficking, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities. All 57 participating States enjoy equal status, and decisions are taken by consensus on a politically, but not legally binding basis.

The OSCE Secretariat in Vienna assists the Chairmanship in its activities, and provides operational and administrative support to the field operations, and, as appropriate, to other institutions.

The Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA) deals with economic and environmental issues, operating under the premise that promoting economic prosperity and co-operation on environmental problems can contribute to international security and stability. The OSCE's role is twofold: a) to monitor economic and environmental developments among participating States, and alert them to any threat of instability, and b) to facilitate the formulation of economic and environmental policies and initiatives among participating States, to promote security. The Office currently comprises 22 staff members.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Deputy Co-ordinator/Head of Environmental Activities, as Office Clerk you will provide support for the implementation of the extra-budgetary project entitled \"Strengthening responses to security risks from climate change in South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia\". As Office Clerk, you will support the Deputy Co-ordinator/Head of Environmental Activities in administering the implementation of the project and more specifically will be:

Assisting in drafting communication for administrative aspects of the project; Assisting in planning, co-ordinating and administrating logistical aspects of project activities and workshops, in co-operation with national and international partners, experts, internally in the OSCE; Identifying appropriate venues, interpretation services, rental of equipment, preparing invitation, setting up of meeting rooms, registrations, circulation of documents, and providing support to invited experts and participants; Assisting in preparing project progress reports for internal and external use; Assisting in monitoring project implementation against the established indicators detailed in the project logical framework and ensuring that project outputs are delivered accordingly and on time; Assisting in monitoring the project disbursements to prevent over- and underspending of project resources; Assisting in preparing communication needed to advance the project and following up on project activities; Assisting in preparing plans and presentations for project activities and results; Performing other duties as assigned.

Necessary Qualifications:

Completed secondary education; At least two years of relevant experience including at international level; Experience in administration as well as in supporting the practical and logistical organization of conferences and workshops; Professional fluency in English, with excellent written and spoken communication skills; knowledge of Russian would be an asset; Proven planning and organizing skills; Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities; Ability and willingness to work as a member of team, with people of different cultural, and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity; Computer literate with practical experience using Microsoft applications.

Remuneration Package:

Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deduction, is EUR 2,996 per month. OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria. Social benefits will include possibility of participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
