Terms of ReferenceStrengthen UNHCR's capacities to support the Refugee Department in Belize with the preparation and implementation of secretariat activities related to its role chairing the 2024 Pro-Tempore Presidency of MIRPS, at the national, regional, and multilateral levels.

DUTIES:

The LOCAL INDIVIDUAL CONTRACTOR, will support in the activities listed below:
1. Liaison with government stakeholders and other high-level counterparts for the preparation and elaboration of documents related to the MIRPS.
2. Development of a broad network of stakeholders, and the expansion of their capacities.
3. Drafting of the Final Documents on protection and solution strategies, public speeches, presentations and lectures for the authorities and officials who will participate in their capacity as MIRPS Pro-Tempore President for meetings (virtual or face-to-face) at the national, regional, and international levels.
4. Co-manage the implementation of the MIRPS Pro-Tempore Presidency workplan.
5. Coordination of high level local and regional meetings as well as the VII MIRPS Annual Meeting, in coordination with the MIRPS Technical Secretariat.
6. In coordination with the MIRPS Technical Secretariat, draft and dissemination of minutes, agreements and other relevant documents related to the MIRPS Platform.
7. Draft of inputs for press releases, reports, and other communications activities within the MIRPS.
8. Prepare final report of the Pro-Tempore Presidency to be delivered at the end of the term.
9. Planning, review, and publication of the MIRPS Pro-Tempore Presidency’s sections within the 2024 MIRPS Annual Report, in coordination with the Technical Secretariat.
10. Participate in workshops, meetings, and videoconferences with the MIRPS Technical Secretariat and other national and regional stakeholders, to advance the work of the MIRPS Pro-Tempore Presidency and to prepare minutes of the activities as requested.
11. Any additional tasks related to the MIRPS, as requested by the Refugees Department, UNHCR, the MIRPS team, and the Technical Secretariat.

The Local Individual Contractor will be supervised by the Head of Office at UNHCR, in close coordination with the Director of the Refugees Department in Belize.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications
Education & Professional Work Experience
For G6 - 3 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or Higher.

Field(s) of Education
Law, Social Sciences, or International Relations, and preferably with experience in academic research.

Please note that this position is offered under UNOPS LICA contract at LICA-6 level until 31 December 2023, with possible extension subject to budget, good performance and operational needs.
