Job description

Southern Africa is estimated to have amongst the highest prevalence rates of gender-based violence (GBV) worldwide, in particular of domestic violence. The regional programme Partnerships for Prevention of GBV in Southern Africa (PfP-II) focuses on the implementation of innovative and context-specific flagship projects for violence prevention to alter social norms and practices that instigate GBV. As part of the PfP management team, you will lead the implementation of the programme in Namibia. You will also be responsible for the achievements of the planned results under Output 1, regarding the development and implementation of new flagships for GBV in the Southern African Development Community region. Maintaining trusting relationships with our partners and clients are particularly important aspects of your work.

Your tasks

You will be responsible for the successful implementation of the programme activities in Namibia in close coordination with our clients and partners You will manage project managers in the major project component based in Namibia in accordance with the company's understanding of leadership and ensure an appreciative leadership culture You will ensure that technical and commercial quality standards are met during implementation in line with the provisions of Quality Assurance in Line Management as well as country specific regulations You will establish open and professional communication with the national partner ministry, other implementing partners, civil society organisations, German Embassy and all relevant donors based in Namibia in the field of gender and gender-based violence prevention and contribute significantly to the professional and conceptual development of the programme You will manage the implementation of one of the regional outputs of the programme yourself from a technical, commercial, and administrative point of view You will ensure the identification and utilisation of synergies with the bilateral portfolio in Namibia You are responsible for the professional, external presentation of the PfP Programme in Namibia You will report to the officer responsible for the commission and will support in budget planning and control, personnel management, impact monitoring and the coherent implementation of the regional programme

Your profile

Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, e.g., political science, law, public health, cultural anthropology, and gender studies Many years of professional experience in development cooperation in a relevant field, e.g., gender, human rights, health, education including team leader responsibilities Proven expertise in the development and implementation of gender-transformative and/or violence prevention approaches Strong managerial skills in the context of international development cooperation Experience in personnel management and in steering diverse teams Experience in steering complex projects and programmes, experiences abroad are an asset Dedicated, reliable team player with good diplomatic and intercultural skills and a sound awareness of gender issues Strategically and analytically thinking and acting and ability to grasp new concepts rapidly and prioritise key topics Business fluent in German and English
