Specific Unit Description – Global Programs Unit, GPURL
GPURL covers a wide gamut of issues including: (i) supporting the development of green, inclusive, resilient and productive cities; (ii) promoting efficient, well-coordinated spatial and territorial development processes; (iii) strengthening disaster risk management policies, institutions and regulations and mainstreaming resilience across development sectors; (iv) post-conflict reconstruction and recovery; (v) strengthening land tenure, management and information systems; and (vi) supporting the development of national and sub-national spatial data infrastructure and supporting the development of geospatial information.
The GPURL Global Programs Unit supports GPURL through the design and implementation of the global programs that support the development of: (i) knowledge & innovation, and (ii) partnerships, convening and advocacy. The Global Programs include three Umbrella Trust Funds that catalyze donor support as well as stand-alone TFs and other Global Programs. The unit also hosts several key partnerships with funding agencies (bilateral donors, multilateral agencies) as well as non-funding partners (academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, and civil society).
The land global program includes the management of the Umbrella Trust Fund ‘Land 2030’, a global initiative on women’s land rights, the organization and management of the annual World Bank Land Conference, as well as support for operational teams in land administration and related issues.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the Land Global Program including delivery of analytical work and knowledge sharing to identify and disseminate good practices both internally and externally, in close coordination with the Global Lead and Senior Land Specialists in the Global Unit.
• Provide portfolio support including tracking the land portfolio globally; developing/enhancing a database of outcome and output data from land project ICR; and other related portfolio monitoring tasks.• As requested, provide technical and operational support to implementation of the Bank’s existing land administration/management portfolio consisting of investment lending and technical assistance. • Support the Global Unit in the development of trust fund proposals and activities.• Support the annual WB Land Conference development and logistics under the direction of the Land Conference TTLs.• Participate in professional development and knowledge sharing activities in the GPURL Practice.

Selection Criteria

• Degree in political science, social science, history, economics, or a related field involving spatial/urban planning, geography, geodesy or land law;• Experience in international project development and/or implementation of development projects or programs; • Experience with land administration, land management, or land governance would be an advantage;• High degree of initiative, ability to work independently;• Strong interpersonal, analytical, research and organizational skills;• Excellent writing and presentation skills in English. Knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage.
