JOB SUMMARY:

The Andreas C. Dracopoulos iDeas Lab, the award-winning creative and digital production department at CSIS, continues to be the gold standard for innovation in the global think tank space by using cutting-edge multimedia production to bring policy research to life. We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented self-starter to join our dynamic and fast[1]paced team as a layout input intern.

This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to advance their careers in publications, journalism, or data entry fields. Ideal candidates should possess keen attention to detail, robust problem-solving abilities, effective project management skills, and strong organizational capabilities. Candidates must be adept at multitasking in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, consistently meeting tight deadlines, and possess the flexibility to rapidly adjust to varying project topics and scopes as required.

The hired candidate will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience ($17.00/hour for current undergraduate hires, $18.00/hour for hires with a bachelor’s degree, and $19.00/hour for hires with a master’s degree).

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Importing Word Document publications into Typefi ensuring that the resulting PDFs are formatted to the highest quality standards.

• Performing edits as needed in either Microsoft Word or Adobe InDesign.

• Manage a variety of publication inputs across departments and demonstrate an ability to work within established deadlines, processes, and branding guidelines.

• Design and create basic graphics and data visualizations for use in PDF publications.

• Work closely with the design and publications teams to achieve production goals and improve productivity.

 

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

 • B.A./B.S in relevant field (or rising senior)

• Relevant work or internship experience a plus

• Basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications – especially InDesign, Illustrator, and/or Photoshop

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities

• Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow through skills; • Experience using Typefi a plus

• Eligible to work in the United States.
