Work LocationVienna Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesWe seek motivated interns to support the work of the Staffing, Diversity and Outreach Section (SDOS) of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) / United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). You will take up assignments with the Human Resources Management Section (HRMS) to support wide number of diversity and communication initiatives. Our interns report to full-time staff and will be assigned to at least one workstream: Work Stream 1: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Support with and take responsibility according to your capacity on • Development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives in the field of Gender Equality, Geographical Diversity, Disability Inclusion and other diversity dimensions • Creating content for internal communication to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in UNOV/UNODC • Planning and delivery of events to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in UNOV/UNODC Work Stream 2: HR Communications (Employer Branding) Assist in organizing and coordinating key events, including helping with logistics, preparations, and liaising with internal teams under supervision. • Support wide variety of employer branding initiatives, such as generating digital content for internal and external websites, social media platforms, creation of event flyers and save-the-date notices; • Assist monitoring, research, and analysis aligned with Staffing Team activities and priorities; • Support in-person and virtual outreach events by compiling, processing, and visualizing information in a collaborative setting; • Other daily responsibilities based on the needs and the individual’s background. Interns can work with us in-person or hybrid; part-time or full-time; and for up to six months. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants to the United Nations Internship Programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: 1) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher such as Master's degree or equivalent, Ph.D. or post-graduate degree). 2) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent). Interested candidates can pursue studies in the following fields relevant to each workstream: WORKSTREAM 1: DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION • Human Resources Management • Organization, Management and Strategy • Diversity Management • Social Sciences • Psychology • Or related fields WORKSTREAM 2: HR Communication • Human Resources Management • Journalism • Communications • Organization, Management and Strategy • Digital Innovation Or related fields All interested candidates should: • Have strong organizational and coordination skills, analytical thinking, excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, innovation, digital transformation. • Be computer literate in standard software applications; solid knowledge of Excel and PowerBi is desirable. • Have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to the ideals of the Charter; • Have a profound understanding of different diversity dimensions and their interlinkage with Human Resources Management. • Being able to interact with individuals of different backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Most interns have prior internships or a year or two of full-time work experience; however, it's not formally required for the UN Internship Programme. Your training and education should benefit the UN during your internship. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
