Terms of ReferenceGeneral Background of Project or Assignment:
Particularly in 2023, UNHCR Brazil had a challenging scenario related to budget cuts and, consequently, revision of some positions. This scenario must be approached in a positive way in order to lead our people to look at resources in a broad and rational way.
This is an opportunity to address topics such as communication, mental health, and well-being more deeply, leading to reflection on how practical actions directed to these topics can improve our services.
The UNHCR operation in Brazil has approximately 190 employees, most of whom are Brazilians spread throughout different regions of the country. The understanding of the importance of the reflection and involvement of the UNHCR staff in Brazil about the results achieved in 2023 and the challenges and goals of 2024, promoting effective communication, positive, inclusive and a respectful culture will be very positive in keeping all staff motivated globally.
The retreat also will include activities focus on promoting physical, mental and emotional health and well-being among others.
Overall Purpose and Scope of Assignment:
Presentation of workshops on integration, engagement and team strengthening (Team Building) with a focus on training of UNHCR Brazil employees, with the aim ensure to provide support work through the pillars of Communication, Trust, Culture and Well-being.
It will also be permeated with concepts and practices to co-create an environment healthy work environment, promoting well-being and physical, mental and, as well as increasing happiness and productivity in the professional and personal sphere.
Activities will be conducted in a structured and progressive manner to achieve the established objectives. Therefore, it is of fundamental importance that participants are fully available on the days of the retreats so that they can engage and actively participate, integrating the concepts, practices and experiencing integration with the organization.
The objective of this task is to revisit actions to ensure that the personal culture is engaged, effective, positive, inclusive and respectful. The retreat will also focus on promoting physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.
This assignment aims to work together on the different concepts on the subject, from a Brazilian cultural point of view, but also bridging the gap with the international one and the different cultures existing in a humanitarian work environment such as UNHCR's.
At the end of the work, it is intended that participants can have a broader and more comprehensive view of the ethical precepts, practical actions that contribute to Wellbeing, Mental Health as well as facilitate working relationships and coexistence among colleagues, and bring a framework of ideas and solutions to facilitate decision-making and actions directed at people of interest to UNHCR, in particular the communication of refugees in constant growth in the country.
As a starting point, UNHCR Brazil will promote the same strategy for both workshops in two duty stations (each workshop lasting 16 hours) on the topic with an emphasis on Communication, Culture and Well-being. The workshops are expected to generate meaningful ideas and contributions for all individuals and strengthen motivation and engagement.
The objectives of the workshop will ensure a valuable opportunity to strengthen human development and employee training, contributing to continued success of the organization.

Qualification and experience required:
- University degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Services, Human Rights, and related areas (mandatory);
- Post-graduation degree in Psychology, Human Rights, Human Resources, People Management, Training and Development, and relate areas (desirable);
- At least 23 years of work experience in Human Resources, people management, psychology, human rights or related areas, capacity building (mandatory);
- Field of expertise: People management, Human resources, career development, leadership training, psychology, social sciences, coach, mentoring, staff training and management.
