IDB Lab is looking for a dynamic and client-oriented individual to help manage the portfolio of operations as part of its Investment Unit team in Headquarters.

For over 25 years, IDB Lab has been using of a range of reimbursable financing instruments from direct investments in early-stage companies with high impact and high growth models to investments in venture capital (VC) funds, for which IDB Lab has been an instrumental anchor investor helping to shape the VC industry in LAC. IDB Lab has been also using debt instruments to support innovative SMEs. IDB Lab also leverages third party financing to achieve its developmental goals, including environment and climate-oriented funds aligned with its strategies.
The Team: The Investment Unit (INV) at IDB Lab is the unit responsible for originating, structing and managing the portfolio of reimbursable operations. The Portfolio Officer will be part of the Portfolio Management team within the Investment Unit. The Portfolio Officer will conduct technical supervision and management of IDB Lab’s portfolio, in particular those positions in special assets and liquidation situation and IDB Lab’s Social Entrepreneurship Program (SEP).

Education: Master's degree or equivalent post-graduate degree in one of the following fields: Economics, Finance, Business, Accounting, Legal or related field, preferably with an emphasis on credit and portfolio risk. Fields such as mathematics, statistics, and accounting are also suitable.
Experience: at least six years of experience in credit risk analyses, special assets management, portfolio management, with experience in financial institutions and with different investment products, preferably direct experience with venture capital funds (particularly from a Limited Partners’ point of view) and with loans and direct equity investments, including the analysis of financial statements and credit risk assessment.
Languages: You are fluent (written and oral) in both English and Spanish.
Key skills:
· Loss mitigation, credit modeling and advanced analytics.
· Expertise in the use of standard methodologies used in financial projections and risk analysis of portfolios.
· Deep understanding of the key operational, financial, management/governance and market factors that determine success in the implementation of financial operations.
· Knowledge about analytic tools to measure, manage, and control credit risk.
· Expertise in optimizing credit processes (origination, underwriting, pricing, administration, monitoring, and management), including audit data.
· Negotiations with clients and understanding of the legal environment and features of equities and debt agreements.
Digital Skills: Advanced Excel; Databases such as Airtable; CRM such as Salesforce.
Requirements:
Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
