Humanitarian Assistance Expert

(Almere, 28-36 hours a week)

Your job

As our new Humanitarian Assistance Expert, you become part of the Programme & Knowledge Support (P&KS) team that consists of 21 experts. Together we assess contexts and opportunities, attract resources, develop partnerships, design theories of change and develop and support integrated programmes, monitoring & evaluation. Within the P&KS department you work together with 6 other Humanitarian Assistance Experts. You report to the P&KS manager.

You are responsible for:

  • Contributing to the development of humanitarian aid & recovery expertise, programme concepts and policies, and for writing related policy and guidance documents.
  • Providing support and technical advice to country office staff on humanitarian assistance & recovery approaches.
  • Leading the process of developing new, high-quality programme proposals for institutional donors such as ECHO, OCHA, BHA, and GAC.
  • Participating in the humanitarian assistance team to support rapid responses and developing rapid response capacity and disaster preparedness of country offices and local partners.
  • Participating and contributing to multidisciplinary teams.

Your Profile

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree or higher, and experience working in humanitarian aid, preferably in a rapid response or conflict context.
  • Experience in (remote) project management and capacity strengthening.
  • Expertise in leading, developing and writing proposals for humanitarian aid donors, in cooperation with multiple partners.
  • Strong at taking initiative, flexible, and with a hands-on mentality.
  • Well-developed networking and problem-solving skills, interculturally sensitive, and able to prioritise, plan and organise.
  • Excellent command of English, both verbally and written.
