Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.
Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 209 projects in 123 countries and has committed USD 11.4 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Position Objective
The Head of Governance Affairs and Secretary to the GCF Board, operating under the guidance and oversight of GCF’s Executive Director, manages a team that is responsible for understanding and responding to the needs and intentions of the Board; enabling sound relations between the Board and the Secretariat, and effectively managing the Secretariat’s preparation and execution of its Board meeting related responsibilities.
The Head is also responsible for recommending actions to enhance GCF governance, leading the development of new policies/procedures/systems/activities that can support agreed actions, and ensuring that the Secretariat’s work is aligned with governance policies and related timelines. This position also manages the establishment and maintenance of sound relations with civil society organizations to benefit from their insights and inform the work of the Secretariat and Board, and acts as a liaison between the GCF and the COP and UNFCCC supporting the fund’s engagement with the multilateral climate finance process and the implementation of related mandates.
