Job Description

Save the Children Australia is seeking a Grant Compliance Manager who embraces due diligence and has a talent for assessing and improving grant management processes and systems that will assist to ensure we comply with our internal and external standards and deliver impactful programs for children around the world.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to promote and instil best practice compliance that meets the requirements of Save the Children in Australia and globally, the ACFID Code of Conduct and our key donors, including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Where you come in:

In this 12-month full time, fixed-term position, reporting to the Head of Award Management & Compliance, you will coordinate across the organisation to conduct a comprehensive review of policies, processes and systems against donor compliance and accreditation criteria. With a close eye on risk mitigation, partnerships and localisation, your reporting and recommendations will improve our work and ensure we meet internal and external standards.

The role may be based anywhere Australia, and you’ll have flexibility to work from home or at our Melbourne office.

You will make an impact by:

Applying your ability to link compliance with quality programming in order to identify gaps and provide practical advice to improve and update policies, procedures and systems in line with donor compliance and accreditation criteria. Applying your strong understanding of how development and humanitarian programs work as you engage with key cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate and monitor SC Australia’s preparation for donor accreditations, including with DFAT. Working with our personnel and country and regional offices to ensure Save the Children and due diligence requirements are effectively communicated, understood and applied. Assisting our International Programs Department to embed a consistent approach to compliance assurance across teams and offices, thereby increasing the quality and efficiency of our internal due diligence management.

Does this sound like you?

You have a knack for communicating the link between compliance and quality program management because you appreciate that quality programming and efficient grant management is built on consistent and sound policies and processes.

You have a strong understanding of governance, financial and operational risk as it applies to the requirements of Save the Children and institutional donors, and you’re comfortable dealing with programmatic audits and calling out problems.

Your exceptional time-management, planning and communication skills make it easy for you to connect, work with and motivate a diverse range of people and teams at all levels.

This role requires:

A hands-on understanding of Australian Government international development and humanitarian program culture, systems and procedures. An understanding of governance, financial and operational risk in non-government organisation settings, from opportunity to close-out. Experience in grant and knowledge management systems. Proven success in communicating and applying institutional compliance and policy requirements for international programming and grant administration. Highly developed communication, cultural awareness and problem-solving skills.
