About the Program:

WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities works to make urban sustainability a reality. Global research and local experience in Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Turkey, and the United States combine to spur action that improves life for millions of people. Aiming to influence 200 cities with unique research and tools, WRI Sustainable Cities focuses on a deep cross-sector approach in four megacities on two continents, and targeted assistance to 30 more urban areas, bringing economic, environmental, and social benefits to people in cities around the globe. This position is hybrid and will require a few days per week in our Washington DC office. What you will do: The internship offers learning opportunities in international development around global electric mobility (e-mobility). The Global E-Mobility team is focused on working on electric bus (e-bus), freight, and 2/3-wheeler projects in different countries. While supporting broader objectives of the team, the intern will take on key activities of the program to help amplify our work on decarbonization, resilience, gender and social equity, and impact evaluation. These activities tentatively include:

Conducting literature reviews and support in drafting publications on topics such as gender and social equity and e-mobility business models.Research support on global electrification of vehicles.Support monitoring and evaluation efforts across the global team.Collect data on e-mobility operations, manufacturers, etc. and support the creation of databases to publish this information.Internship Learning Outcomes: You will gain experience in the following areas: Sustainable transport policies, programs, and practices, particularly in developing countries.Insight into the role of electrification in decarbonizing transport.Conducting research, literature reviews and synthesizing findings for global research organization. Contributing written and graphic content to articles, papers, and presentations, including planned WRI peer-reviewed publications.Experience with a global network of staff working on sustainable transport. What you will need: Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree. This opportunity is part of WRI’s Dream Green program, which is an institutionally funded internship program to increase representation among Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC). To qualify for WRI's Dream Green program, the intern must be a BIPOC student. Compensation The pay for this internship opportunity is $20 for undergrads; $22 for graduates and $24 for PhD. Length of Contract: This is a full-time, 3-month internship with a flexible start and end date. Location: This is a hybrid internship that will be based out of our Washington D.C. office.You will be required to work in the Washington DC office at least 8 days per month.WRI will provide a laptop for the duration of your internship.
