Overview:

Samaritan’s Purse is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Finance Manager to serve in our La Paz, Bolivia field office. In this position you will have the opportunity to lead a national finance team as you support the projects and ministry of the SP Bolivia field office. A day in the life of a Finance Manager:

In the role of Finance Manager you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Mentor, train and develop national staff in all areas of financial management at the La Paz base and sub bases
  • Oversee internal and external audits and reviews and ensure financial/accounting activity is carried out according to SP Policies
  • Ensure daily functions for recording all cash, check and bank transfer transactions, cash and bank ledgers, cash advances and field expense reports, reconciliation of cash on hand and monthly bank reconciliation are carried out
  • Ensure adequate cash flow for operations and safety of financial resources at base
  • Provide support to Program Managers with regard to financial policies/practices and related areas as required. This includes training on compliance with local regulations and SP policies
  • Provide required monthly financial reports by specified deadlines to the Country Director and IHQ as assigned
  • Ensure timely submission of all local government reports and filings as required in country
  • Assist with project budget preparations and regular review
  • Maintain close and cooperative working relationships with fellow financial staff, Country Director and IHQ Regional Finance Officer
  • Maintain detailed records for all financial transactions in an organized and professional manner
  • Identify areas for financial and administrative improvement and work with the Country Director
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with an emphasis in accounting or related field of study plus two or more years related experience; CPA or equivalent certification preferred; or equivalent combination of accounting education and managerial experience.
  • Experience with foreign currencies and grants management preferred; understanding of in-country regulations
  • Proven management experience and a strong desire to develop and empower national staff
  • Strong relational skills and financial management experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Prior experience working and living overseas; with ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Cheerful, diplomatic, encourager, concern for the spiritual well-being of the team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (required) and intuitive ability in learning new computer programs
  • Ability to travel to field sites to monitor finances
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required)
