Tetra Tech International Development (International Development Jobs – Tetra Tech) is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for an Environment & Natural Resources (ENR) Associate.

Position Description: Associates in Tetra Tech’s International Development practice support a portfolio of projects Tetra Tech implements around the world on behalf of its clients. They work with a diverse and dynamic set of team members and contribute through new business development, project management support, and technical expertise in a field relevant to Tetra Tech’s practice areas. The ENR Associate will work on both program implementation and new business development, primarily on USAID-funded projects. This position is preferably based in Arlington, VA or Burlington, Vermont areas with consideration of other remote, US-based locations.

Responsibilities:

* Regular international travel to provide technical assistance to projects, provide management and training support to project field staff (including project startup and closeout), and support preparation for new business opportunities.

Project management responsibilities:

* Support project management and contract oversight and management (periodically in the field), and strong financial management oversight of USAID projects; and

* Provide subject matter expertise and solutions to project implementation teams. Support work planning, development and quality control of technical deliverables and communications products.

New business responsibilities:

* Identify, pursue, strategize, support, and lead the preparation of proposals for the sector to USAID and other clients; and

* Assist in the identification of prospective clients and strategies to apply and share knowledge, including writing position papers and coordinating marketing efforts.

Technical responsibilities:

* Support technical leadership and learning on climate finance, green value chain development, or environmental markets in multiple development settings, both internally (convening Tetra Tech’s experts to develop ideas and select opportunities to highlight) and externally (writing position papers and making presentations on behalf of Tetra Tech); and

* Collaborate with specialists from across the company to integrate environment and natural resource management best practices across practice areas.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

* Minimum of master’s degree in natural resource management, environmental sciences, ecology, resource economics, sociology/anthropology, water resources management, environmental economics, or another related field; Ph.D. preferred.

* Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience required, with strong client, supervisor, and peer recommendations;

* Minimum of two (2) years of experience in project management support and/or technical assistance programming in developing and transitioning countries. While experience backstopping projects with intermittent overseas travel is acceptable, experience living and working overseas in a cross-cultural context is preferred;

* Strong knowledge of international donor projects required; USAID donor project experience preferred;

* Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural teams with strong written, oral, and presentation skills;

* Experience managing project work plans, reporting and budgeting in developing countries preferred;

* Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written deliverables, with prior successful experience writing complex technical proposals preferred;

* Experience designing implementation research studies and learning initiatives, including quantitative and qualitative methods and data analysis;

* Highly proficient in MS Office applications;

* Demonstrated detail orientation and exceptionally high levels of organization;

* Fluency in English required, professional French proficiency strongly preferred;

* This position requires frequent international travel (15% - 20%);

* Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with poise and professionalism with the ability to meet deadlines on multiple concurrent projects;

* Current US work authorization is required at the time of application.
